4. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

When a CLA node is locked (e.g. during SW/eSW upgrade), the CLA node may fail or all network
loading nodes may be reset which can cause session loss. HA Services raise 70159 alarms for
nodes/services.

5. DETAILED DESCRIPTION

When a system has been running long, it may have accumulated a huge dentry/slab cache that is
released during execution of umount. Because the releasing of the dcache is time consuming and
CPU intensive operation, umount operation lasts longer and some processes hang for long periods

 of time. As a result, High Availability Services raise 70159 alarms and the CLA node may fail or all
network loading nodes may be reset which can cause session loss.

6.2 SHORT TERM WORKAROUND

Just before umount() (which will be done as part of the step of locking active CLA during SW/eSW
upgrade), remount file system as read-only.
Even if the file system was busy and remount fails, the dcache gets shrunk.

Before active CLA lock provide the following commands.

mount -o remount,ro /var/SS_nginfo_om_data_collector

mount -o remount,ro /var/opt/nsn/SS_PM9
