 ELEMENTS OF AN ARTICLE
TITLE/HEADING- It should be thought provoking and catchy
highlighting the theme.
NAME OF THE WRITER –Sign off your article with your name
in the end. It can be written after the heading also.
INTRODUCTION- The first few sentences in the first para
should introduce the topic and its main idea.
DESCRIPTION OF THE TOPIC-The middle para should
highlight the main facts of the topic like causes and effects,
advantages and disadvantages.
ENDING- The last few sentences in the last para should state
a conclusion on the topic with your views or suggestions.
CONCLUSION- End the article with a desire ,an appeal or a
warning.
 SPEECH WRITING
 It is an effective way of conveying
message to a larger audience.
 One of the ways to spread awareness
regarding social issues or giving
information about any other issue.
 It is composed of introduction, exposition
of topic, summing up and conclusion.
COMPONENTS OF A SPEECH
INTRODUCTION-
 Start by greeting the guest, fellow speakers and audience.
 Specify the occasion of the speech.
 Announce the topic
 Start by creating interest among audience can be recent
anecdote or a story or historical reference.
EXPOSITION OF THE TOPIC
 Build up a sequence of ideas, use relevant examples, evidence
or data and draw up arguments for /against, advantages and
disadvantages etc
 Present ideas in an interesting manner.
SUMMING UP
 Summarize the most important points but do not repeat them.
CONCLUSION
Conclude with a call for an action, appeal , request or just an
expression of thanks.
 As Mukul / Mahima of Alps Public School, write a speech to be delivered in school assembly highlighting
the importance of cleanliness suggesting that the state of cleanliness reflects the character of its citizens.

IMPORTANCE OF CLEANLINESS.
In the words of the great John Wesley,
“Cleanliness is next to godliness”
Good Morning respected principal, teachers, and my dear friends. Today, I, Mukul/Mahima, stand before
you all, to highlight the importance of cleanliness.

Cleanliness is the state or quality of being clean or being kept clean. It is essential for everyone to learn
about cleanliness, hygiene, sanitation and the various diseases that are caused due to poor hygienic
conditions. It is crucial for physical well-being and maintaining a healthy environment at home and at
school. An unclean environment is an invitation for a lot of mosquitoes to breed in and spread deadly
diseases. On the other hand, not maintaining personal hygiene leads to a lot of skin problems and
decreased immunity.

The habits learnt at a young age get embedded into one's personality. Even if we inculcate certain habits
like washing hands before and after meals, regular brushing and bathing from a young age, we are not
bothered about keeping public places clean. For this, on 2nd October, 2014, the Indian Prime Minister
launched a nation-wide cleanliness campaign, “Swachh Bharat” to provide sanitation facilities to every
family, including toilets, solid and liquid waste disposal systems, village cleanliness, and safe and adequate
drinking water supply. Teachers and students of schools are joining this ‘Clean India Campaign’ very
actively with great fervour and joy.

Good health will ensure a healthy mind, which will lead to increased overall productivity resulting in higher
standards of living, thus developing the economy. It will boost India’s international image. Thus, a clean
environment is a green environment with less people falling ill. Cleanliness, hence, is defined to be the
emblem of purity of mind.

SOCIAL MEDIA AND IT's EFFECTS

FOR THE MOTION:

"We are all now connected by the internet, like neurons in a giant brain"

Honourable judges, teachers and my worthy opponents, thank you for giving me the opportunity
to join this debate on the topic, "Social Media and It's Effects". I am Mukul/ Mahima and I would
like to speak in favour of the motion.

How many people do not have a smile on their faces on finding an old friend on facebook? Well,
social media has removed all the barriers and boundaries to communication by bringing the globe
on a single platform. While business opportunities have widened, marketer's reach has
broadened. It keeps us updated about everything going on in every nook and corner of the world
on a real-time basis. From emergency alerts, announcements and declarations to knowing how
our friends are doing has all become so convenient. It provides freedom of speech and thus,
enables everyone to speak their mind. Not to forget the incalculable access it provides to the
extensive information.

With so much advancement and innovation, it would be an unimaginable world without having
social media in it. Someone has rightly put it into words by saying,

"Social media is addictive precisely because it gives us something what the real world lacks: it
gives us immediacy, direction and a value as an individual."

AGAINST THE MOTION:

What a world it is, with everyone on their phones, all the time, faking their
lives and keeping a count of their likes?

Good Morning, ladies and gentlemen! I am Mukul/ Mahima and my topic for
the day is, "Social media and it's effects". I would like to speak against the
motion.
It has now become doubtful to trust the saying that goes like "Technology was
developed to save time and make our lives easier", because people have
become addicted and unproductive. It takes a lot of effort and discipline to stay
away from social media. Results have shown that it has had adverse effects on
human minds and their functioning. Outdoor activities among children have
also reduced significantly.
No doubt it provides access to useful information, but, it is hard to ignore the
quantum of fake news that spreads like wildfire and the extent of impact it has
on the society. In fact, fake whatsapp forwards was a clear pattern that was
observed behind the recent mob lynchings or rather, "Death by social media".
It is one of the reasons behind insecurities and depression among teenagers. It
is right that technology was introduced to save time, but we forgot to mention,
"In the right amount"• . So, remember, you leave the present moment every
time you check the phone.
