DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS 7

"NUMBER AND NUMBER SENSE"

CONTENT STANDARD

The learner demonstrates understanding of the key concepts of geometry of shapes and sizes, and
geometric relationships.

PERFORMANCE STANDARD

The learner is able to create models of plane figures and formulate and solve accurately authentic
problems involving sides and angles of a polygon.

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson, students are expected to:

A. define line and its subsets,

B. determine the part of the line being described by the union or intersection of two segments, rays or
segment and ray; and

C. illustrates subsets of a line.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

A. Topic: Subsets of a line

B. References:

C. Materials: ruler, manila paper, marker

E. Concept: A line is a set of points arranged in a row. It is extended endlessly in both directions. It is
one dimensional figure. Two points determine a line. That is, two distinct points are contained by
exactly one line.

Line segment is a part of a line that has two endpoints. We define a line segment as a
subset of line consisting of the points A and B and all the points between them.
Ray is also a part of a line but has only one endpoint, and extends endlessly in one direction.
We name a ray by its endpoint and one of its points. We always start on the endpoint.
