The doctor did the informed consent to the parents then prepared the IV line, collected blood
sample for lab examination and performed fluid resuscitation immediately by giving intravenous fluid
infusion of Lactated Ringer’s Solution, which consists of 210 ml (7 X 30 ml) of fluid in the first hour.
After MG gained consciousness, the infusion was continued as much as 490 ml (7 X 70 ml) for the
next five hours.

The blood samples that taken before, then brought to


clinical laboratory and analyzed. The results were:

Hemoglobin : 14 gr/dl 10.5 – 12.9 g/dL

WBC : 8200/mm3 6000 -17 500 /L

Na+ : 118 meq/l 129 – 143 mEq/L

K+ : 3.5 meq/l 3.1 -5.1 mEq/L

Glucose : 80 mg/dL 50 – 80 mg/dL

Stool sample is also collected and examined. The result showed:

Watery, leukocyte: 0-1, no erythrocyte, pH = 5,


Clinitest: positive.
The doctor asked for ELISA examination from stool, and reveals that ELISA for Rotavirus is
positive, and microbiology examination for pathogenic bacterial were negative.
