CHAPTER ONE

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF THE INSTITUTION

Iringa district council is regarded to be one among the most common councils in Tanzania. It
is famous recognized using its long-term policy of the so called “SIASA NI KILIMO”.

Iringa district council is concerned with economic activities as it is the case since it was
established to make the best in the agricultural sector and industrial activities which lead to
have a lot of objectives in .district council and tried to show competition to municipal of
Iringa. The Iringa district council is under the supervision the district executive director
(DED) named ROBERT MASUNYA. But in Iringa district council there are many different
departments which are under himself those department are health sector, education sector,
mineral sector, business sector, agriculture sector, accountant sector and other charges
account. Iringa District Council is aspiring to have enjoys high and sustainable living
standards among its member who devoted themselves to raise the revenue for the
development of council.

VISION
Iringa District Council is aspiring to enjoy high and sustainable living standards among its
member who devoted themselves to raise the revenue for the development of council.

MISSION
Iringa District Council in collaboration with stakeholders who committed to provide high
quality and sustainable services to its community through participatory and democratic
approaches, good governance and rule of law and proper use of available resources.

OBJECTIVES

-To improve services and reduce the rate of HIV infection.

-To enhance, sustain and effective implementation of national anti-corruption strategic.

-To increase quantity and quality of social services and infrastructure.

-Enhance good governance and rule of law.

-Enhance public/mass participating in planning and implementation of council projects.

-Improve social ware fare, gender and community empowerment.

-Improve emergence and disaster management.

-Sustainable management of natural resources and environment for the community improved
and participation of stake holders in process.

SELF ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION

OBJECTIVE

-To build good relationship with the institution so that they can trust me and give the
opportunity to contribute what I have.
-To work hard according towards the vision an mission of the institution
-To follow the rules and regulation present in the institution accordingly

EXPECTATION

-I expected to know the work performed by the institution especially in the


department I will be working.
-I expected to contribute what I have for the achievement of institution objectives
-Team work and continuously leaning from the institution

TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES

In the department I was working the tasks where


-To provide business licence to businesspeople
-To go to different villages in our district to provide education on issues basing on
business license and business in general
-To fill business license application forms for the first time applicants of business
licenses.

OUTCOMES

-I know the work performed by the department I was working as I expected


-I followed the rules and regulation of the institution as other employees as I
planned.
-I enjoyed because I was given the chance to speak out what I have as I expected

CHALLENGERS

-Financial challenges in which sometimes I had to use my money for Institution


matters
-Ignorance, I was sometimes disappointed because some of the things I speak out
where ignored

LESSON LEARNT

-I leaned how teamwork is good for the development and achievement of institution
goal
-I leaned a lot concerning license and matters concerning business in generally
-I also leaned how to face challengers present in local government

CHAPTER THREE
INSTITUTION/ORGANISATION SWOTANALSIS
STRENGTH

The organization tries to increase the motivation to their workers especially in terms of salary
and other motivation.

Iringa district council increases work facilities especially computer which as a problem
during training students to post the transaction to Microsoft excel because there is shortage of
computer in IDC.

Director of the organization talks with their workers in order to know the problem which
workers in the IDC every month.

WEAKNESSES

The field practical training at Iringa district council as explained before that it was awesome,
but also it led to the encounters of some challenges as follows;

The need of adaptability; this become the weakness to the organisation hence people in the
society do not want to use license saying that they have lead pay to TRA

Little trustworthiness; it a weakness hence customers hide their stocks out of the shop to
understate the amount to be paid for license application

System failure; this makes customer tired of waiting for network to get control number in
which a lot of customer uses it as a defensive mechanism when court conducting business
without license

Many competitors, Iringa has about five Districts which lead to the limitation of income
correction by using license

Shortage of working facilities; working facilities are not enough in which it require
sometimes a worker to go to the other office for use of the facility

THREATS

ENVIRONMENT AND SOCIAL IMPACT


Iringa DC threats of human health and safety due to environment changes and fail of
adaptation of the new environment
CLIMATIC THREATS
Climatic change impacts are felt along the entire agricultural value chain; so the main
activity such as agriculture fails due to poor climatic condition which reduces
collection of business licenses
TERRORIST THREATS
Thus far, the attacks of Iringa DC have been relatively unsophisticated. They have
involved crude homemade, they have been focused on poorly protected targets of
opportunities and they have not resulted in mass casualties.

RECOMMENDATION AND CONCLUSSION

TO THE UNIVERSITY
-The student should be given more time during field work practise hence field work
practice is successfully to Business Administration students

TO THE UNIT
-Organization should take over the responsibility of giving student more tasks so as
students can learn effectively and tasks should be provided relevant to his or her
professional and not different to the carrier

TO THE DEPARTMENT
The department should make sure that they increase books of field work practise so
as student can use those books to obtain knowledge

CONCLUSSION
During field work practise students gained knowledge and skills due to participation
with other works in the organisation, team work, accountability, diligence and
integrity .Due to this the student fills as a normal work when she is at work field area
