6. Corridor walls – staggered stud.

Action. There are locations that include a furred wall for plumbing. RD Olson described the need for gypsum
board on the inside of the wall. VA believes that this can be eliminated with the adoption of UL W304
(http://database.ul.com/cgi-

nce=1 ). This assembly eliminates the need for the inner layer of gypsum board.

Nom. 5/8 in. thick gypsum board, paper or vinyl faced with beveled, square, tapered or
rounded edges. Gypsum board nailed to each stud 7 in. OC with 6d cement coated nails, 1-7/8
in. long, 0.0915 in. shank diam and 1/4 in. diam head. As an alternate, No. 6 bugle head
drywall screws, 1-7/8 in. long, may be substituted for the 6d cement coated nails. Gypsum
board may be applied vertically or horizontally. When Items 5 or 5a are used, fastener
length adjusted to accommodate the thickness of the panel. When Items 1a and 2a are used,
the gypsum layer located between Items 1a and the alternating studs, Item 1, may be omitted.

7. Isolation missing at waste pipe (315).

Action. Isolation to be added.
