The Focus of This Lesson Is Asking "How Much."


아저씨. 이거 얼마예요?
"Sir, how much is this?"

To ask in Korean how much something is, you can use the phrase 얼마예요? (eolmayeyo). We
use this question to ask the price of a certain item. We place the item we are inquiring about
in front of the phrase 얼마예요? (eolmayeyo).

Items to Inquire about

Here are some examples showing how we place common items that we might ask questions
about in front of the phrase 얼마예요? (eolmayeyo).

For Example:

Politeness Levels

얼마예요? (eolmayeyo) is in the standard politeness level, and we can use it with strangers
while being polite. As we most commonly use this phrase while shopping with strangers, the
standard politeness level is form we most commonly use. Below is a reference table for the
other politeness levels.
