MINUTES FOR THE PICACHO HILLS LADIES LEAGUE

June 22, 2023

The meeting was called to order by President Margie Herberger at 12:56 PM. Nine members
were present.

President’s Remarks:

• Please note change in our tee time to 9 AM throughout the summer months.
• Our next game rotation will be Stableford. Margie will email a short scoring sheet to
members.
Basically, scoring is 4 pts. for eagle, 3 pts. for birdie, 2 pts. for par, 1 pt. for bogey.
Highest number of points wins. This game enables players to record a game score unless
they decide to pick up on a hole.
• Per the email survey, 15 PHLL members have committed to play in Kactus Kapers so far.

Treasurer’s Report
• The monthly report from Karen Lord was previously emailed to the membership,
showing a balance in our operating fund of $2,638.90 and our Kactus Kapers fund of
$3,007.73 for a total of $5,646.63. We still owe the Club for Jill prizes but have yet to be
billed.
There was no further discussion.

Kactus Kapers – Donna Lafreniere, Chair

• Our theme is “Wild About Golf” and invitations have been sent to all members.
• We will be informing and encouraging other clubs – communicating with their ladies’
groups through Border, NM Senior Women, Inner City League of El Paso, etc.
• Two groups of NMSU players have already paid.
• Linda will chair the raffle, with help from Lori and Vicki.
• Candy B will chair decorations, with Donna P assisting.
• Vicki will chair Hole Sponsors, with Lynn assisting. New signs can be ordered from Able
Signs.
• Judy L and Donna L will arrange for food.
• Hazel and Margie have offered to help, as well.
• There was discussion of tee prizes and whether to hold another clothing shopping
experience.

Border – Lori Coffelt

We had 6 team members play at NMSU this month in a full field of 120 ladies. Hazel took 2nd
gross, Margie tied for 1st net, Linda tied for 2nd net.

July 27 is the next event, at PHCC. Lori needs male helpers for bags and carts, plus ladies to help
with registration. An email will be sent to members. Let Lori know if you will be using your own
cart and will allow a guest player to join you. Kactus Kapers signs will be put out for the red
tees.

There is an invitational in Alamogordo on 10/14, the day after regular 10/13 Border
competition.
There is another tournament “Las Margaritas” on 11/4-5. Flyers will be coming out.

Advisory – no report

Senior Women – Jean Davis reported that she, Hazel and Lori played this month at Twin
Warriors. The next event is at Taos CC on July 31.

Looking forward: put on your calendars our Member-Member event on Saturday, October 28,
with Candy Slover and Linda Chagares volunteering as co-chairs.

Discussion, Additions from the group:

Linda asked whether a decision had been made to hold member-guest days, perhaps once a
month. Margie said the Tournament Committee will explore this with Nick.

Jill of the Hill for June is Lynn Zeemont. Congratulations!

Jill prizes were handed out to previous Jill 2023 winners Lori, Linda, Chris and Margie. Sharon’s
will be mailed to her.

Birthdays: Pat Anderson

The meeting was adjourned at 1:26 PM.

Respectfully submitted by Vicki Hook, Secretary
