 Who would be the person/persons who would be auditioning potential actors for their
company?
The ones auditioning people for the company are the artistic director Jeremy Webb and the TD
artistic associate Annie Valentina.
 Who are the artists involved with this company?
Some of the artists involved with this company are Carla Bennet, Stephane Gaudet and Natasha
Powell as choreographers, Sarah Richardson in music Direction, amongst others. We also find
playwrights like Annie Valentine, Hannah Moscovitch or Ann-Marie MacDonald and composers
like Sean Mayes and performers like Tim Campbell, Janelle Cooper, Dianne Flacks and Eva Foote,
to mention some of the talents found at this company.

 What type of shows have they programmed in the current season?


For this season they have a combination of original shows written and composed by the people
working in this company and other renown productions, these are: Elf, Fall on your knees
(original adaptation), In Lieu of Flowers, Ballad of the Motherland(original), The SpongeBob
Musical and Billy Elliot the musical.
 What are their past practices, what is their history of shows?
In their past seasons they also tend to have a list of original productions and also big
productions, for example, last year they also had an original production called The Argyle Street
Kitchen party as well as they had The Last five years and Calendar girls

 Where is the company, where would auditions, if face to face, be held?


This company is located in Halifax, and the auditions take place there too, however they also
hold general auditions in Toronto.

 When do they hold auditions?


The 2023-2024 season auditions will be on February 14 and 15 in Halifax, and the general
auditions in Toronto will be sometime in May but those are announced in a separate call. These
auditions are in person. The deadline for the submission is February 3 and the up-to-date
information (headshot, resume and optional brief cover letter) must be submitted through the
Neptune’s Casting Database. The selected performers will receive a link to book their audition
slot. And they can use their audition time presenting whatever they wish (monologue, scene,
piece, etc.)
 Do they accept unsolicited resumes and headshots?
Yes, those are submitted through the Neptune’s Casting Database and stored there for the
future if you create an account. You can also update your information on this website.
 Do they prefer self-tapes?
They audition process is in person however, they mention that if the actor can’t make it for the
audition call in person, they can have a conversation and reach an arrangement so I would not
discard a self-tape for that case.
 When is the best time to approach this company?
February or May as the audition dates are stated.

 Why Mandate—does the theatre have a stated mandate? A philosophy? What is it?
Their mandate is about equity and diversity. They want to bring people from all genders,
ethnicities, abilities and identities.
