[1 .Prayerlessness is Pride]
When we are not prayerful, it is because we have become proud and convinced that we
can do things on our own
when we do not pray, we become self sufficient and depend on ourselves.

Jesus rebuked the church in Laodicea on this

Rev 3:17

A prayerful person knows that he needs God and pleas for God's provision.

Learn to depend on God - Prayer

(Proverbs 21:31)
The horse is made ready for the day of battle,
but victory rests with the Lord.

In challenges, we learn to pray to God and when we pray, we depend on him.

[2. I listen to God]
When we pray, we talk, but we also listen.
2 ways PJ listens to God when he prays
A) Listen to God through my own prayer
- The HS gives words in his heart to articulate what he's feeling on the
inside
- And when we pray and listen to our own prayer, our own prayer reveals the
solutions to our problem.
- God gave me answers to the issues in my life as I pray

B) Listening Prayer
- Seek to listen and allow God to have space to speak to me
- takes some time for us to come to a place of stillness in order to hear
from God
- When we are still, we are more receptive to God
- Psalm 46:10
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”

- Elijah heard God through a gentle whisper.

Pascal - "Most of man's trouble comes from his inability to be still"

John 10:27
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.

[3. I seek revival from God]

"History is silent about revivals that did not begin with Prayer" - J. Edwin Orr

Luke 24:50-53
The Ascension of Jesus
50 When he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, he lifted up his hands and
blessed them. 51 While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into
heaven. 52 Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. 53 And
they stayed continually at the temple, praising God.

Acts 1:14
14 They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the
mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.

Acts 2:1-4

Acts 13:2-3

2 Chronicles 17:14
