=> Instantaneous Voltage Relays Type VAGM 22 Features >> Adjustable setting range >> Very high drop ofpick up rato >> Unaffectes by normal variation in fequency of input voltage >> Simple and robust construction >> Positive action without chatter Application Instantaneous over-votage protection of generators, capacitors etc, definite ime undervaltage protection of ‘ac motors, automatic volage changeover schemes and cther instantaneous and define time undervaltage and vervotage applications requiring adjustable sottings. General description \VAGM 22 sa standare attracted armature relay wth seven equal seins adjustable on a plug board ‘Ae cols used with an intemally mounted bridge rect to obtain a drop offpick up ratio ofthe order of 90%. A resistance connected in series wit the collis tapped suitably and the taps are connected tothe plug board to obtain seven equal settings. Acapactris Used to serve asa fier unit forthe bridge rectifier and it also acis as a surge suppressor for protecting the diodes ofthe bridge rectifier against high voltage transions ‘The de colli ited with a narmally open light duty contact which is arranged to energise an auxiliary unit ‘whieh provides the necessary output contacts, Type VAGM 22 isa single pole relay with its auxiliary unit. Technical data Voltage ratings and settings Relays are supplod suitable fr operation an 110 vot, 50 Hz system and have the fllowing standard setting ranges: Over-votage relay ‘110 - 140% adjustable in seven oqual stops Undervoliage relay 40-80% adjustable in seven equal steps Resetting voltages Over-votage relay: 80% of setting voltage Under-voliage relay: 110% of setting voltage Operating times Over-votage relay 0.060 second at 110% voltage eating Under-vltage relay:0.025 second at zero voltage. ‘These Umes are inclusive ofthe operating time ofthe associated auxiliary unt. Burdens (VAG coil) Over-vottage relay: ‘Maximum burden at nominal voltage is O.9VA. Under-votage relay: ‘Maximum burden at nominal voltage (8 relay set atthe lowest selling) is 2.9VA. ‘Thermal rating Overvoltage rey: ‘The VAG unit can withstand three times the setting voltage on any sting continuously. Under-votage relay ‘The VAG unit can withstand two times the pick-up (resetting) voiage on any setting continuously Accuracy ‘The over-voltage and under-votage relays conform to Contact ratings: ‘rror cass index E 5.0 as per BS 142-1986 and 6.0 as per Is 3231-1965, Operation indicator “The relays can be fited, ifrequied, with an operation indicator on the auxiliary unit. The incicatoris hand resel by means of a push-od protuding through the Felay case. On te under-volage relay, a reverse ‘operation inlcatr i ited; Lo it operates on drop-off or loss of voltage. Contacts Upto throe pairs of standard sel-esat contacts can ba provided on the auxiliary unit ofthe relay in any ‘combination of Make’ and "Break, The auxiliary units ‘always energized by @ normally open ight duty contact ‘of the VAG unitin case of under-votage relay, The ‘unllary unit can be fited with blowout magnet ‘contacts aso, required, for breaking heavy or highly inductive dc loads ‘The normal postion, regarding the contacts, Is the ‘de-energised positon. ‘The contacts ofthe auxiliary unt ofthe relay are rated as folows:- Type of contacts | Current Make & carry Make & carry continuously for 3.0 sec Break Standard ac 1250VAwith maxima | 7500VAwith maxima | 1250VA with of 5A.and 860v of 30A and 560V_ ‘maxima of 5A and 660V_ Standard De 11250W with maxima 7500W with maxima | 100W (resistive) or of 5A-and 880 ‘of 30A ane 660 SOW (inductive) with ‘maxima of 5A and 860V Heavy duty magnetic pe +1250W with maxima 7500W with maxma | 3 %KW maximum blow-out of 5A.and 660V of 30A ana 660V_ Dimensions and weights Maximum overall dimensions Relay Height mm width mm | Dept’ mm vaGM 22 1D Vert. 238 370 203 “Add 76 mm for maximum length of terminal studs, alternatively, 28 mm for terminal screws. ‘The approximate gross weight given above is inclusive of cartons, mounting appendages and terminal details. Cried dimensional drawings of case outines, panel cut-outs and mounting details are available on request ‘The relays comply uly with the requirements of IS 3231-1968 and are suitable for use in normal Lopical environments Insulation “The relay meets the requirements of IS 3231 05IIEC-256-5 Series C- 2 KV fort minute Case and finish Relays are supplied in single pole, metal drawout cases sultable for ush or projection mounting an are finishes eggshell black and tropicalises. The drawou ‘feature considerably simplifes maintenance and permits testing to be carried out easily and quickly. A ‘cradle mounted isolating switch is provided which automatcally isolates the trip circuit when the erable assembly i withdrawn from the case for maintenance. ‘This prevents any inadvertent tripping of the circuit breaker, The case can also be fited wth itches to maintain the under-vltag tip circuits on withdrawl of the relay unit rom the case.
