Water is essential for life.

It is one of the most important substances on earth that all plants, animals
and humans need in order to survive. In our current situation; increasing population, rapid development
and industrialization require large quantity of water consumption which in turn generates high
wastewater volume. Thus, Water Resource Degradation and Wastewater Management problem arise.

Water resource degradation is the deterioration of the environment through depletion of the water
resource. The more industrial and commercial establishments arise, the more water is needed leading to
depletion of the water resource. Large quantity of water is necessary for most industrial processes and
as population increases so as the demand for water for domestic use. Water scarcity is already
experienced in some countries right now so there is a need to find alternative mitigating measures to
counter the effects of water resource degradation.

This also leads to wastewater management problems due to 60-80% of this input water will in turn be
converted into wastewater which is discharged into water bodies. Poor and inefficient wastewater
treatment produces effluents which can harm and alter the receiving water bodies quality.

To sum it up, these 2 most pressing problems on water can be properly addressed through regulation of
water consumption, efficient wastewater management and conscious effort from everybody.
