Throughout the whole quarter, I am glad to say that I have learned a lot from the topics discussed.

From
the first lesson that is the respiratory system to the last which is photosynthesis, these topics are what
helped me gain more knowledge in not only myself, but also in the environment I’m in. I have learned
about how our respiratory and circulatory system work together, along with the definition and functions
of the different organs involved in these systems. Besides that, I have also learned about the different
diseases that comes with the improper care of our respiratory and circulatory system, which I believe is
an important and timely topic that must be discussed for us to be aware so that we can avoid such risks.

Furthermore, my favorite lesson this quarter is the one about genetics where I became familiar with
terms such as chromosomes, alleles, the non-mendelian principles of heredity, the different blood types,
how the Punnett square works, and many more. I found this topic interesting because I was also curious
about heredity and why I look more like my father’s side of the family than my mother’s. This lesson also
gave way for me to be able to assess the different inherited traits that I got from my parents.

For the last topics which are about biodiversity and photosynthesis respectively, I have learned a lot
about the terms related to population, the factors affecting it, the difference between endangered,
threatened, extinction, and more. I am also enlightened about the environmental issues that harms
communities and how to play my part as a student to stop them. I have also learned about
photosynthesis, its types, and the process involved which in my opinion is the hardest lesson that we
tackled this quarter.

Despite the hard lessons, I am very grateful to have Ms. Jong as my science teacher. From how she
conducts recitations, games, long quizzes, and discussions, I believe that her teaching style is very
effective especially in a subject where memorization is a must. I also like the way she involves story-
telling in our discussions and the resources she makes use of in order for us to have a clear
understanding of the subject. In Science, long topics are surely inevitable, yet in spite of that, Ms. Jong
has this style that makes each discussion interesting and pushes the class to actively participate and be
eager. I love her enthusiasm in teaching Science and how she connects with us students. I can’t wait to
learn more with her throughout this school year!
