Technical information should always be available to the foremen and mechanics, because their
careful and constant adherence to the instructions is essential to ensure vehicle road-worthiness
and safety. In addition, the normal basic safety precautions for working on motor vehicles must, as
a matter of course, be observed.

Note
If wheel alignment has just been carried out, the steps descri‐
bed under “Calibration without preceding wheel alignment” do
not have to be carried out.
Calibration without preceding wheel alignment
Please observe test prerequisites for a wheel alignment ⇒ Run‐
ning gear, axles, steering; Rep. gr. 44; Wheel alignment; Test
prerequisites.
Please observe measurement preparations for calibration/ad‐
justment of driver assist systems ⇒ Running gear, axles, steer‐
ing; Rep. gr. 44; Wheel alignment; Measurement preparations.
For vehicles with air suspension, bring vehicle to normal level
and block ⇒ Vehicle diagnostic tester.
For vehicles with rear wheel steering, adjust rear wheel steering
to zero position ⇒ Vehicle diagnostic tester. This is the only way
to assure that rear wheel steering is in straight-ahead position.
– Drive vehicle onto wheel alignment platform.
– Connect battery charger ⇒ Electrical system; General infor‐
