INTERVIEW (NON-TEACHING STAFF)

A person who is sacrificing her proper sleep routine, and food diet for serving
hostel girls, a non-teaching staff, Ms. M. Muneeswari BSc in Biotechnology. She
had completed her graduation at Kaleshwari Arts and Science College. We had
a great time making a small chit-chat with her. First, she started with her
experience. She joined this college in 2016 as an attendee of Ganga Hostel. At
that time Shakila mam was the manager of the hostel and Ms. Sasilekha of the
Biotechnology department, Ms. Gynalakshmi of ECE, and Ms.Keerthana of ECE
were the sub-wardens of Ganga Hostel. She said,” Shakila mam was so kind
and she was my guide”.
Then she moved on to her daily routine, their day starts at 6.00 a.m, first
and foremost work of them is to check the quality of food, and second to
prepare a list of grocery items for the next day based on student count to
reduce wastage. If it is a weekend holiday, their day will become hectic as they
must take care of the arrangement of buses.
Next, she shared about her experience with students when we asked”
Will they be humble or rude?”. She said” We experience both types of
students. We tell some good kinds of stuff for their well-being; some will take
it but others will not” By that time they will get hurt.
Later she mentioned the ways of handling the parents. “Even though
parents act in a harsh way, we never take those to our heart because we think
from parents’ perspective as they are staying far away from their children. So,
we respond in a humble way.”
In addition to that she commented on the evolution of students in her
past 6 years of experience. “In 2016, Students were mature enough to fit into
the situation. As the year passes, they become inadequate. Since they could
not come out of their comfort zone provided by their parents”, she said.
At last, she ended up talking about her colleagues. As a head, she has
one more responsibility to look after them.
A person like her, who looks after people from all generations, right
from students, sub-warden, and elderly people in the hostel in turn expects
“ONLY RESPECT” from us.
