We, Graphite India Ltd, are in design and manufacturing of Graphite Heat & Mass transfer equipment required for corrosive
applications mostly in chemical plants. We are present in Indian Market since last 3 decades & in global market since last 2
decades with supply in nearly 50 countries.

Product Details:
1) Graphite Heat Exchanger:
We manufacture heat exchangers in

following three types of
constructions:
• Monoblock Type
• Polyblock Type
(Cylindrical / Cubical)
• Shell & Tube type
These heat exchangers are used as cooler, condenser, heater, reboiler, evaporator for various corrosive fluids.
2) Turnkey Systems:
We design and supply turnkey systems like HCl Absorption Units, HCl Synthesis Units, Dry HCl gas
generation unit.
Our scope includes

• Equipment
• Interconnecting Piping
• Instrumentation
• Skid structure
• Supervision of erection and commissioning
2. A) HCl Absorption Unit:
We supply HCl Absorption unit with isothermal falling film absorber followed by adiabatic tail gas tower
(packed column in graphite) to ensure complete absorption of HCl gas. Absorber can be provided in graphite
polyblock or shell tube construction based on the feed conditions & capacity. We can also provide complete
system with piping & instrumentation.
2. B) HCl Synthesis Unit:
This is an important system in Caustic Soda and chlorine Di-oxide plants HCl Synthesis Unit
consists of:
• Graphite burner, combustion chamber & absorber

followed by packed tail tower that scrubs the
residual gas and releases clean vent gas to the
atmosphere (H2 and inerts)
• Other ancillary equipments like flame arrestors,
moisture separators, seal pots for hydrogen &
chlorine, bursting disc collection pot, automatic
firing package, piping and valves, tanks and pumps
• Field instruments and control panel

• Steel structure
• The unit can be designed with steam generation facility
All the above items can be pre-assembled in the factory in the steel structure.
The salient features of our unit are;

2. Graphite Burner:
Our HCl Burners are manufactured in Graphite MOC with special design with following features /
benefits:
De-centralized Combustion:
Combustion of HCl on our burner takes place in the form of multiple small individual flames which
ensures the efficient mixing & complete combustion of Feed gases (viz Cl2 & H2). This is evident from
very pure acid production containing less than 1 ppm of Cl2 & sometimes beyond detection range.
Suitable for Moist Feed Conditions:
Graphite has good resistance to thermal shocks as compared to the quartz being offered by our
competitors. Hence, our graphite burner gives very good life even in extremely moist feed conditions.
Quartz burners are normally prone to breakages in moist feed conditions.
On-line Cleaning / Washing:
Since the complete flame burns outside the burner & good resistance to thermal shock, graphite
burners can be washed online with water flushing while flame is “ON”. This facility is provided on almost
all the units supplied by us. This washing of burner is essential since there are always chances of caustic &
salt sludge deposition in the cavities of the burners
Cost Effective Solution:
As against the high price of quartz burner, our graphite burner is proven to be a cost effective solution.
The only part to be replaced is burner cap which has minimum life of 3 years (depending on
conditions). Cost of replacement is negligible in comparison with replacement of quartz burner.
In short, Graphite burner provides you good life, efficient burning (clean acid & vent gases), online
cleaning & cost effective solution.
3. The product HCl solution can be in the range of 30 - 37% depending upon the requirement.
4. The unit is complete automated (which includes Auto-firing) compatible to DCS & PLC mode.
2. C) Dry HCl Gas generation unit:
We can provide complete system for producing Dry & pure HCl Gas from
either H2 & Cl2 Combustion or distillation of HCl Acid solution. Dry & pure
HCl gas generated in above systems can be used in following industries;
• In silicon industries for solar cell or electronics applications

• Drugs & Pharmaceuticals
• Agrochemicals
Dry HCl gas can be produced by following three ways:

a) By synthesis route
b) HCl acid striping (22% by-product route)
c) HCl acid striping (1% byproduct route)

3) Graphite Columns:
Graphite Columns are supplied in following two types of construction:
Packed bed type with different types of packing like graphite rasching ring,
ceramic intallox saddle, plastic intallox saddle, etc.
Tray type with graphite Bubble cap trays or graphite Sieve trays
The columns are used for scrubbing, absorption, distillation/stripping
4) Graphite Centrifugal Pumps:
The contact parts are in Graphite. The seals can be Bellow / Mechanical type. The
pumps can be provided with special arrangements such as double mechanical seal with
cooling arrangement for high temperature applications
5) Graphite Rupture Discs:
The bursting disc is designed to suit the bursting pressure requirements with close burst
tolerances (within +/- 5%) and can be provided with support grill if operation is under vacuum.
6) Vacuum Ejector Systems:
The vacuum ejector systems can be provided in single stage or multistage depending on the absolute vacuum
required with motive; fluid steam or water.
We can provide the systems with condensers mounted on a steel frame.
7) H2SO4 Dilution & Cooling Unit
Dilute sulphuric acid is required in battery and

fertilizer industries. The unit consists of a static mixer
in graphite followed by a cooler with suitable NRVs in
concentrated acid & dilution water lines to restrict the
backflow of dilute acid.
8) Graphite piping & accessories
Piping system with suitable fittings and supports

can be designed for transportation of corrosive
fluids. The fittings include thermo-wells, valves,
tees, bends etc.
