The body of a worker ant is made up of the head, the mesosoma that includes the 3

segments of the thorax plus the first of the abdomen, the waist that is made up of the second
and/or third segment(s) of the abdomen and which are called the petiole. and postpetiole
respectively, and finally the gaster.

Brain: complex organ, located within the skull, that manages the activity of the
nervous system.
Mouth: They have two, one on each side of the mouth; its function is very
different from that of our jaws, in fact it is much more similar to what our hands
have.
Heart: They have a dorsal aorta, a kind of artery that extends into the body
and is responsible for transporting hemolymph.
Digestive tract: Includes an alimentary canal with a glandular stomach and
small intestine
Nervous system: it consists of a ventral nerve cord that runs the length of
the body, with various ganglia and branches reaching the ends of the suspects.
Crop: They use plant fragments, mainly fresh leaves, but also other types of
plant material such as flower petals, seeds, and fragments of some fruits.
Stomach: The first, the crop, receives and preserves food for the other ants.
Due to its role this stomach is called "social stomach"
Large intestine: Midgut, normally presents diverticula near the anterior part
of the same section.
Poison gland: It is ovoid in shape and is located on both sides of the head,
from the back of the upper jaw to the labial commissure.
Hindgut: It consists of the distal half of the transverse colon, the descending
colon, the sigmoid colon, and the proximal third of the rectum.
