The near point

The near-point is the closest distance in front of the eye that a person is
capable of focusing light on the retina.
The near-point for a normal person is about 25 cm, making it hard to focus
on an object closer to your eyes than that.

Optical instruments: Compound microscope
Compound Microscope:
● It consists of two convergent lenses of short focal lengths and apertures
arranged coaxially. Lens (of focal length f0) facing the object is called
objective while the lens (of focal length fe) facing the eye, eyepiece.

● The objective has a smaller aperture and smaller focal length than eye-
piece. The separation between objective and eyepiece can be varied.
