instructional and learning outcomes in line with present trends.

THE PURPOSE AND IMPORTANCE OF
BUSINESS STUDIES DIDACTIC

The purpose of business studies didactics is to “make experienced teachers


skilled and proficient in instructing their subjects responsibly and effectively.”

…PURPOSE OF TEACHING
• To help students to a obtain, recall and apply knowledge
• To help students develop comprehension, examination, synthesis and evaluation skills
• Shape habits and attitude development.
• As a result, teaching, Omieibi-Davies (2011) highlights that certain behaviors can be
observed, such includes the following:
a) An increased store of useful information and the understanding of basic principles in the
subject matter.
b) An acquisition of psychomotor skills, abilities and habits
c) Possession of desirable attitudes and ideas, such as developing satisfaction about learning
outcomes.

Learning is therefore a “process of acquiring knowledge and skills and


attitude”, this is according to Dorgu (2015).

• Negative reinforcement hinders learning whereas reward and
positive reinforcing encourages student learning.
• Learning environments that offers stimulating and fresh experiences
enhances learning
• Learners learn best when they are actively involved in the learning
process
• Meaningful learning material is learnt a lot better and easy to retain
• Learning is enhanced when given within a rich and diverse
environment.
• Emphasis must be placed in structured patterns to minimize loss of
learning.
• A wide range of learner experiences can be used to enhance
learning
• Lastly, Gbamaia (1991) highlights that “Learning is transferred to
the extent the learner sees possibilities for transfer and has
opportunities to apply his knowledge”
