HORCHATA
• Horchata is a traditional Mexican
drink made up of partially
fermented white rice soaked in
water along with cinnamon and
nuts such as almonds, hazelnuts,
etc.

• Some versions are dairy free


while others contain milk and
some versions added flavor like
vanilla or coconut.
Ingredients
• 1 Cup of white rice
• 2 cinnamon sticks
• 10 – 12 Almonds
• 2 cups of water (For soaking of rice)
• 2 cups of Milk
• 100-150 ml of condensed milk
• 1 cup of water
• 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
• Powdered almonds and cashew nuts
• Ice cubes
Recipe

1. Wash and soak the rice.

2. Add cinnamon, and almonds along with rice in a bowl of water


and soak it overnight, or at least for 5 hours.

3. Strain the water from the cinnamon, rice, and almond mixture
that were soaking, disposing of water.

4. Blend together the cinnamon, rice, and almond mixture with 1
cup of milk until a smoother mix is formed and the grains of
rice are completely ground.

5. Strain the resulting liquid into a pitcher, and add the sugar,
vanilla, and condensed milk. Mix well until everything is well
combined.

6. Add a 1 cup of water, and serve with ice and sprinkled almond
and cashew powder.
