The Role of Youth Has a Strong Influence on Creating A Peaceful World

Natasya Cinta Aulia

Surabaya – Indonesia
In the context of human life, the “young generation,” also known as the youth group, is a group
of people who share the same year of birth, age, place, and historical experiences or events
within the same individual that have a substantial influence on their growing phase. Now, this
generation is always thinking creatively and innovatively, and it is thought to have a big
possibility to contribute to world peace. However, many young people are unaware of this
strategic position.
For example, can serve as mediators, community mobilizers, humanitarian workers, and peace
brokers. Youth generation capacity mobilization, like conflict-affected demographic groups,
necessitates a concentrated and long-term approach.
Peace in the globe or within a country is not just the responsibility of the government. As future
leaders, the younger generation may help to create and sustain peace. Because peace is so
important, various countries have hosted talks at the International Youth Conference to support
the role of the younger generation in global peace. The fact that there are more young people
than ever before demonstrates the importance of the younger generation’s involvement.
The quality of a country’s citizens reflects it’s success. These young people represent the
nation’s hope, and they will be the next generation of changemakers in the country. The role that
Indonesian youth should play, meaning that youth must struggle for the prosperity of the nation,
is that as the nation’s successor, Indonesian youth should learn a lot and appreciate the
importance of education. Education is one of the most important factors in a country’s success.
They have the potential to develop works, ideas, and a fighting spirit to advance their nation and
state with the supply of education.
What must be emphasized is that youth must be conceptualized and studied as agents of positive
peace in terms of overcoming not only physical violence but also structural and cultural violence,
as well as broader processes of social change to change violent, oppressive, and hierarchical
structures and behaviors, relationships, and attitudes to become more participatory and inclusive.
To comprehend the youth generation’s involvement in peacebuilding, it is necessary to first
understand the factors of youth mobilization and reintegration, such as who they are, what they
did prior to the conflict, how they were recruited, what role of struggle they played, what they
experienced physically, socially, economically, and psychologically during armed conflict, and
in what 'home' context they are reintegrated.
The engagement of youth in nonviolent politics and, more broadly, the empowerment of their
political institutions in more positive and peace-oriented roles in post-conflict environments will
most likely be determined by how the political and governance context as a whole shapes this
trajectory.
As a pluralistic country, Indonesia must continue to cultivate a feeling of tolerance and goodwill
toward all citizens, particularly the young people who will lead the country in the future. Starting
with appreciating something and being able to filter all incoming cultural flows, there will be no
more incidents of young people engaging in fights, motorcycle gangs, drugs, promiscuity, and
even murder. Because youth is the true backbone of the nation’s future leadership.
Furthermore, it is critical to give chances for adolescents to participate actively in peacebuilding.
For example, can operate as mediators, community mobilizers, humanitarian workers, and peace
brokers due to their youthful energy and aptitude, as well as their adaptation to new
technological developments. If youth fought for their country physically tens of years ago, it’s
different in today’s era where youth are faced with various challenges, and if they are not
directed, they will stray in a bad direction, which will undoubtedly have a negative impact on the
nation's sustainability.
In achieving all of these objectives, it is also critical to avoid the well-worn cliché of referring to
youngsters as “future leaders.” Leadership should not be viewed as a function of age, and
providing the appropriate governance structure is likely to enable young individuals to develop
as leaders today. In other words, whether in governance in general or peacebuilding initiatives in
particular, people must be recognized as leaders today rather than delaying it to a distant future.
