categories in Indonesian context.

Indonesia has been included as one of five top countries with highest internet users, accounted
for 270 thousand people per 2019. More than 70 percent of these Internet population has joined
an online social network, created blogs, and shared photos and music. Together, these sites create
an online audience as large as that of television that is attractive to marketers. In 2017, social
networking will account for an estimated 28 percent of online time. Social sites have become the
primary gateway to the Internet in news, music, and, increasingly, products. These trend has
shape any general business model from the traditional one into more digital one. This digital
business provides a wide range of online business activities for products and services has been
widely established and widely known as E-commerce.

Electronic commerce or e-commerce refers to “any form of business transaction in which the
parties interact electronically rather than by physical exchanges or direct physical contact.”  . This
business model is usually associated with buying and selling over the Internet, or conducting any
transaction involving the transfer of ownership or rights to use goods or services through a
computer-mediated network. E-commerce can

Online Advertising

Business Model : C2C – Consumer to consumer

The customer to customer (C2C) e-commerce website is a site that allows consumers to make
online transactions with other consumers. B2B e-commerce site acts as a third party that brings
together consumers.

 Classified Ads
This is the simplest e-commerce business model and is considered suitable for developing
countries. In this model, the website as a service provider only has the role of displaying
advertisements installed by the seller. Whereas buying and selling transactions are carried out
directly and often often occur offline contact with the cash on delivery (COD) method if the
location is still affordable. For this reason, in every listing of advertisements that are installed,
usually the seller's contact number is displayed, such as email, cellphone number, and instant
messaging account. A classified ad site like this, is suitable for those who just want to sell
occasionally, such as used goods or items with little stock.
Some sites that adopt this business model in Indonesia are : Tokobagus.com, Berniaga.com, and
the Kaskus (Buying and Selling Forum).
These type of businesses may create a company/seller to shift its focus from traditional
marketing to social marketing. Social marketing means all things social: listening, discussing,
interacting, empathizing, and engaging. The emphasis in online marketing has shifted from a
focus on eyeballs to a focus on participating in customer-oriented conversations. In this sense,
social marketing is not simply a new ad channel but a collection of technology-based tools for
communicating with shoppers. In social marketing consumer purchase decisions are increasingly
driven by the conversations, choices, tastes, and opinions of their social network. It is all about
firms participating in and shaping a social process through the internet.

 Marketplace

Marketplace is an increase from the classified model that is too simple. The basic format is the
same, namely customer to customer (C2C) which brings together sellers and buyers in one place.
The difference is that the marketplace does not only display goods sold, but also facilitates online
money transactions. From the provider side, of course the preparation of building a site like this
requires a more complex system because it has to prepare a payment gateway for payment.
However, the revenue potential is also clearer and well monitored because usually the provider
requests a percentage fee from the transaction value other than premium advertising.
Marketplace sites like this are suitable for sellers who are more serious in selling online and
usually have a large amount of stock. Some of the sites included in the marketplace category
include Tokopedia, Bukalapak, Blanja.com.

Business Model : B2B

Business to business e-commerce website (B2B) is a site to serve business activities between
business people and other business people. B2B e-commerce websites are usually used between
manufacturers with distributors, wholesalers and retailers. An example of a B2B portal, namely
ralali.com, which bridges industrial product transactions between large companies and small
companies, and bizzy.co.id which serves B2B transactions for office equipment products.

Business Model : B2C

The e-commerce business to customer (B2C) website is the opposite of B2B. B2B e-commerce
sites serve online buying and selling activities between companies or producers with end users,
whether individual consumers or groups. An example of a B2C portal, namely bhinneka.com,
which focuses on selling various electronic products, and also lazada.co.id which sells a variety
of fashion, sports, and electronic products.

 Online Store
This online store model is among the most common from small to large scale. Here, the seller or
product owner builds an online store with his own domain address and sells it directly to
consumers. In this online store model, site owners set up systems and services from upstream to
downstream. Starting from the technical system of web development containing catalogs of
products, payment systems, to product distribution which includes the provision of products and
shipping to consumers. The advantage of having an online store like this is to have complete
freedom to manage it. You can change the type of appearance as you like, including creating a
blog to strengthen the online SEO store you have. Some examples of online stores in Indonesia
are Bhinneka, Lazada, BerryBenka, Bilna, Tiket.com, Hypermart.co.id, Carrefour.co.id,
Sukamart.com and so on.
