THW: This House Would...
• you are required to tell us why and how you would do something
• avoid messy policy debates (ie: rather than arguing how a policy should be
implemented, focus on necessity, effectiveness and justifiability)
• you can present solutions but these debates do not require a policy
• establish criteria that need to be met in order to prove your belief correct

Duties of the Host School
1. You will need a large venue where all the teams will congregate upon arrival.
2. You will need one debating venue per debate, and a venue or area available for
teams to prepare.
3. Place a sign with the names of schools debating in that venue on the door of each
venue.
4. You should also ensure that each venue is equipped with the ‘adjudicator
companions’ – see hosting booklet – and at least one mark sheet.
5. Please ensure a chair is appointed per debate and keep a record of which chair
and adjudicator were assigned to each debate.

Payment Policy
The registration fee for 2023 is R230 per team. This will cover: membership to the
DCDL, membership to the KZNSDA, participation of your teams and the applicable
administrative expenses. This fee must be paid by Wednesday, 26 January 2023 close
of business. Your speedy cooperation in this regard is greatly appreciated; please
attempt to pay as early as possible.
You must complete the subscription fee certification form that is found at the end of this
