DIVISION DEMONSTRATION TEACHING IN MATHEMATICS IV

DALUMAY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding of the concept of time, perimeter, area,
and volume.

Performance Standard: The learner apply the concepts of time, perimeter, area, and volume to
mathematical problems and real -life situations.

Learning Competencies: The learner finds the volume of a rectangular prism using cu. cm and cu. m.
M4ME - IVe -64

I. Objectives :
At the end of the lesson the pupils should be able to:

 find the volume of rectangular prism using cu. cm and cu. m.

 write solution in finding volumes of rectangular prisms correctly.
 show cooperation and unity in the group activity.

II.Subject Matter:
Topic: Finding the Volume of Rectangular Prism
References: K to 12 Grade 4 Curriculum Guide, LM Math Grade 4 pages 229 to 232

Present a rectangular box as an
example of rectangular prism.

The pupils will read the definitions of the given

Rectangular prism - is a solid figure words.
that has six faces, twelve edges and eight vertices.
Vertex (vertices) - is the corner of the
prism.
Edge - is the line segment between faces
of the prism.
Faces – are the flat surface of the prism.

Now, let us find the volume of rectangular

prism where the length is 27 cm, width is 14 cm,
and the height is 11 cm.

To find and solve the volume of rectangular

prism, we must use the formula V = l x w x h

Let V be the volume of rectangular prism. If l

is the length, w is the width, and h is the height of
the rectangular prism, then.

V=lxwxh
V = 27 cm x 14 cm x 11 cm
V = 4, 158 cubic cm. or cm3
V=lxwxh
Therefore, the volume of the rectangular prism V = 8 m x 5 m x 2 m
is 4, 158 cubic centimeters. V = 80 cubic meter or m3

Let’s have another example.

long. What is the volume of the container?
2. The toy cabinet has a dimension of 4 cm x 6
cm x 8 cm. What is the volume of the
cabinet?
