FADE IN:

EXT. THE FIELD - DAY

SUPER: Graceland, Tennessee

From high above there is a golden field of wheat down below.

It's being parted down the middle like the Red Sea.

We look into the eyes of a frighten creature; it's breathing

heavy!

BANG! BANG!

Pulling back from the eyes, they belong to a long-legged doe

on the run. Her name is N'KIA and she looks to be about nine.
She's eyeing at bridge up ahead. It separates the field from
a forest.

She looks back and sees no one; but only hears voices.

MALE VOICE
(southern accent)
C'mon Jimbo! We can't let her get
away!

Behind her and gaining ground is a high-stepping, gangly

hillbilly type of guy, NATHAN CALLAHAN JR he's in his early
twenties.

Desperately trying to keep up, is his counterpart a short,

stubby hillbilly, JIMBO, who's in his twenties.

N'Kia shoots across the bridge and heads into the edge of the
forest. In front of her is a thick green wall of bushes.

YOUNG N'KIA
(African accent)
If I can just make it back to the
Motherland.

N'kia glances back and the hunters are gone. Whe she turns
back around she almost runs into a double-barrel shotgun; she
screeches to a halt!

NATHAN JR.
Gotcha! Nowhere for you to go now.

N'kia scurries back the other direction, but then sees Jimbo;
she's paralyzed in fear.

Nathan Jr. smirks.

2.

NATHAN JR. (CONT'D)

Jimbo, these deer ain't too bright.
I know these woods like the back of
my hand.
(pause)
I ain't gonna waist a bullet on
this one.

Nathan Jr slowly advances unsheathing his blade -- suddenly,

the ground trembles. Nathan Jr. eyes widen. He turns to his
right and sees a majestic twelve-point deer coming in the
distance, this is MONTAVIOUS (30).

YOUNG N'KIA
Baba!
NATHAN JR.
Jimbo is that who I think it is?

Jimbo gulps and nods.

PAUL CALLAHAN (V.O.)

I thought he was a myth.

Montavious eyes fastens on his daughter. He leaps in front of

his daughter.

MONTAVIOUS
(African accent)
N'kia quick, get behind me!

She hobbles over to him.

Montavious observes a cut on her leg.

MONTAVIOUS (CONT'D)
You're hurt.

Montavious glares at the hunters. He's filled with rage and

lowers his razor-sharp antlers -- he lunges forward!
NATHAN JR.
Jimbo quick, the special bullets!

Jimbo shuffles through a pouch that hangs form his belt. His
attention is distracted from the coming danger.

NATHAN JR. (CONT'D)

HURRY!

Jimbo retrieves the bullet. -- He hands it to Nathan!

Nathan Jr fidgets with the chamber --

3.

CLICK. The bullet slides into place.

Nathan Jr. aims the rifle but Jimbo is in the way. Montavious
tosses the little guy like a limp dish rag.

Nathan Jr escapes and re-centers himself.

Montavious circles and charges back. His antlers glisten in

the sun.

BLAM!

The mighty buck is stunned! It slows and slides to a stop in

front of Nathan Jr a few feet away.

Nathan Jr looks down the barrel of the gun. He smiles with

pride.

NATHAN JR. (CONT'D)

Would ya look at that, he wasn't
invincible.

YOUNG N'KIA
No, Baba!

NATHAN JR.
He's gonna make a fine trophy and
you're gonna make nice snack.

Nathan Jr turns attention towards the young deer. He creeps

forward, but a crackle from a twig catches his attention --

Montavious is headed right for him!

NATHAN JR. (CONT'D)

IT CAN'T BE!

Before Nathan Jr can move, the mighty beast snatches him up

with those antlers. Nathan Jr hangs on for dear life!

NATHAN JR. (CONT'D)

Put me down!

Montavious runs full speed towards the bridge. His vision is

obscured by Nathan Jr's body.

Ahead of them is a steep embankment by the bridge; certain

death looms until --

YOUNG N'KIA (O.S.)

Baba look out!
4.

The sound of her voice cause Montavious to stop in his

tracks! But Nathan Jr. loses his grip and he's catapulted
into the air -- His body comes to a crashing tumble.

Nathan Jr. spins off the edge of the embankment!

Montavious eyes widen. He runs over to the precipitous edge

and sees Nathan Jr. hanging by his fingertips.

NATHAN JR.
Help, don't let me fall!

Montavious lowers his horns for the human.

Nathan Jr struggles to pull himself up but slips! The buck

turns his head.

N'Kia comes over by her father. She looks over the edge and
gasps.

YOUNG N'KIA
(whispers)
Oh no.

She looks at her father's wound.

YOUNG N'KIA (CONT'D)

The firestick got to you.

MONTAVIOUS
It is nothing. We must get you home
and take care of that leg.

Montavious lowers himself and N'kia climbs onto his back.

They hear the sound of pitter-patter in the background.

YOUNG N'KIA
Baba look, the human is getting
away!

Jimbo escapes across the bridge into the wheat field.

MONTAVIOUS
It is of no consequence. He won't
be coming back here again.

Montavious looks to the forest and speeds off in the blink of

an eye. He runs towards the green wall of bushes then
disappears inside --
5.

EXT. ALKEBULAN -DAY

The two come out the other side of a place that's like the
Garden of Eden; except for animals. A bear plays frisbee with
rabbit, a few deer jump rope, and other forest animals play a
game of baseball. They all wave and speak but Montavious
shoots by them; he's on a mission.

EXT. THE CALLAHAN ESTATE - DAY

Jimbo sprints across the wheat field, he's nearing a

plantation style mansion; a place that probably held slaves
back in the day.

INT. THE BIG HOUSE - KITCHEN - DAY

A thin and grumpy type man in his forties, NATE "THE GREAT"
CALLAHAN sits at the kitchen table drinking his coffee and
reads the paper; he seems unconcerned until --

GRANNY MAMA CALLAHAN, a large and jolly middle aged woman,

pulls a fresh pan of biscuits out the oven. She glances out
the window.

MAMA CALLAHAN
My Lord, is that Jimbo running like
a bat out of Hell? And where is
Junior?

THE GREAT
You know Jimbo, jus' like a old
stray dog, WAIT -- he's by
himself?!

Nathan Sr scrambles over to the window. He smiles brightly.

THE GREAT (CONT'D)

(whispers)
They got the big one!

EXT. THE BIG HOUSE - PORCH - DAY

Nathan senior steps out the front door smirking with his cup
of coffee. Seconds later, Jimbo comes crashing on the porch;
he's exhausted.

THE GREAT
I take it Junior needs bringing his
prize back. Gon' round back and
fetch the truck.
6.

Jimbo raises up but still gasping. He shakes his head.

Nathan senior eyes widen.

THE GREAT (CONT'D)

Well I be, truck too small?! Go
call Carl for help, he owes me a
favor.

Jimbo finally catches his breath; only thing he has a

stuttering problem.

JIMBO
J - J - Junior is d - d --

THE GREAT
-- Spit it out boy and quit your
stammering!

Jimbo sucks in a deep breath, and begins to unfold the

grizzly details. As we fade away, Nathan senior drops to his
knees and Mama Callahan rushes out the door.

Jimbo drops his head.

EXT. ALKEBULAN - THE SHADE TREE - DAY

A FEMALE DEER talks to a bear but sees Montavious and N'kia

coming in the distance, her eyes widen.

Montavious comes within feet from her and collapses.

FEMALE DEER
(African accent)
Montavious?!

The female deer runs over to them in a panic. She looks

around.

FEMALE DEER (CONT'D)

Someone help!
(pause)
Montavious wake up!

YOUNG N'KIA
It was the two-leggers mama.

The female deer looks at her daughter.

FEMALE DEER
N'kia go get Ms. Pearl!
7.

The young doe dashes through the forest, even though she has
a wound.

The female deer holds the head of her husband,

FEMALE DEER (CONT'D)

(whispers)
Just hold baby. HOLD ON.

EXT. ALKEBULAN - THE PATH - DAY

Two young bucks, one of them wears a set of bifocals, RASHAD

(10), and the other that's very muscularly for his age, KASIM
(9), walk and talk when they see N'Kia sprinting their way.
YOUNG RASHAD
(African accent)
Is that N'kia?

YOUNG KASIM
(African accent)
I think, but I've never seen her
run that fast. Sister, what's...
(pause)
... up?

N'kia wizzes past them!

Kasim looks at his friend.

YOUNG KASIM (CONT'D)

What is her problem?

YOUNG RASHAD
Look like she's headed to Ms.
Pearl's. Want to see what she is
doing?

YOUNG KASIM
Nah, I am not tyring to hear no
life lessons from Ms. Pearl. I'll
see her when she gets home. Let's
go.

EXT. ALKEBULAN - THE MOUND - DAY

N'kia arrives in front of a homely dirt mound that has a

miniature swing and mailbox next to it. She runs over and
sticks her head down the hole in the top of the mound.
8.

YOUNG N'KIA
Ms. Pearl! Ms. Pearl! You down
there!? We need your help!
(pause)
Ms. Pearl!

N'kia only hears the echo of her own voice. Sadness takes
root and she begins to walk away.

Suddenly, we see a nose creep out the hole -- next, a pudgy

furry body of a elderly female groundhog wearing a pair of
specs, this is MS. PEARL. She looks like wisdom permeates
from her fur.

MS. PEARL
(New Orleans accent)
N'kia, that you? Why all the fuss
babe? Ms. Pearl tryin' to take a
nap.

N'kia scurries back.

YOUNG N'KIA
It's Baba! You have to come
quickly!

Ms. Pearl squinty eyes widens inside the specs.

N'kia bends down and Ms. Pearl climbs aboard; they shoot off
back down the path.

EXT. ALKEBULAN - THE SHADE TREE - DAY

Kasim and Rashad enter the area of the big shade tree and see
a small gathering.

YOUNG RASHAD
Looks like Tyrone is doing another
show. The Northerners love
attention.

Kasim smiles, until he sees his dad lying on the ground. He

sprints over.

YOUNG KASIM
BABA?
(to Mama)
What happened? Who done this?

MONTAVIOUS (O.S.)
(weak voice)
My son.
9.

Kasim focuses on his father.

YOUNG KASIM
Who done this Baba? They must pay!

MONTAVIOUS
It's ok. I have dealt with the
matter. You and your sister are my
great joy.

Montavious eyes drift.

YOUNG KASIM
Baba, wake up!

MONTAVIOUS
Huh? Kasim, promise me...

YOUNG KASIM
Anything Baba.

MONTAVIOUS
... Promise me that you will take
care of your mother and sister...

YOUNG KASIM
Yes Baba. It is done.

Montavious coughs and tries to regain his breath.

MONTAVIOUS
... And promise me that you will
not seek revenge. You can not let
it get inside. It is a deadly
poison.

Kasim only nods.

YOUNG N'KIA (O.S.)

Mama here is Ms. Pearl

Kasim turns to see his sister come, but looks back at his
father who's now lifeless.

YOUNG KASIM
Baba? BABA?

N'kia runs over to her father.

YOUNG N'KIA
Oh no, we're too late.

The entire forest drops their head in mourning.

10.

MS. PEARL
The value of life is never seen
when the eyes are only used.

Kasim looks at all the creatures with their heads down.

YOUNG KASIM
THAT'S IT?! WE'RE JUST GOING TO LET
THEM GET AWAY WITH THIS --
(pause)
-- and listen to strange sayings?

Kasim looks at Ms. Pearl, shakes his head and walks toward
the Green wall.

FEMALE DEER
Kasim, where are going? Kasim?!

Rashad steps in front of the female deer.

YOUNG RASHAD
It's ok, he will listen to me.

Ms. Pearl walks over to comfort the female deer.

EXT. ALKEBULAN - EDGE OF THE FOREST - DAY

Rashad catches up with Kasim and walks beside him.

YOUNG RASHAD
Where are you going?

YOUNG KASIM
To the big house, I know one of
those humans done this!

YOUNG RASHAD
Then what? Kasim, your father just
died because of them. Do you wanna
die too?

A tear runs down Kasim's cheek. He drops his head.

YOUNG KASIM
We have to do something. Every time
they show up, one of our kind dies.
This time it was Baba, next time,
who will it be?!

YOUNG RASHAD
I understand but that's just the
way that it is. We have to always
be watchful.
11.

Kasim cuts his eye at his friend.

YOUNG KASIM
What do you mean, that's just the
way that is?! Are you satisfied
with those beast hunting us down
and taking our lives?!

YOUNG RASHAD
Of course not, do not be foolish.
But what can we do? Look at us,
we're too small and we don't have
any weapons.

Kasim stares at his friend incredulously. Then he turns his

attention towards the Big House.

YOUNG KASIM
You may be right. My size is a
hindrance right now. But it will
not always be this way.
(pause)
Then the tables will turn.

Kasim turns back and heads home.

Rashad looks at his friend puzzled but tags along behind.

EXT. THE CALLAHAN ESTATE - CEMETERY - DAY

From a distance, tiny figures gather under a tent. The tent

protects the people from a steady rain. The sound of a single
violin strums, but it is muffled by a myriad of sobs.

At a closer look, Nathan Jr lies in a coffin. He has on fresh

pair of overalls and tie.

A TODDLER, around three, whines in the background. He is held

by Mama Callahan.

MAMA CALLAHAN
(whispers)
Shh, I know Paul it's okay, I'm
gonna miss him too.

Nathan Senior cuts his eye at his wife.

THE GREAT
OKAY? What's wrong with you woman?
On the count of that deer, that boy
ain't gonna never see his pops
again!
12.

THE GREAT (CONT'D)

(sarcastic)
It's not gonna be, okay.

Mama Callahan eyes dart back and forth in embarrassment.

MAMA CALLAHAN
(whispers)
I'm sorry Nate, but what do you
want me to say to the boy?

Nathan Senior ignores her and stares at the casket.

Mama Callahan pops open her umbrella and walks toward the
house in the distance.

EXT. THE CALLAHAN ESTATE - CEMETERY - DAY - LATER

The service has ended and people peel away one by one.

Nathan Senior hasn't moved; he stares at his only son.

THE GREAT
(mumbles)
This is not the way it's suppose to
be. You suppose to be burying me.
That damn deer is gonna pay.
(pause)
Rest ah sure Junior, he's gonna
pay.

FIFTEEN YEARS
LATER:

EXT. THE BIG HOUSE - BACKYARD - DAY

Sounds of a pistol ring through the air. An agile raccoon

TYRONE turns the corner of the house, running full speed. He
glances back at Jimbo who's aiming at him.

POW!

The bullet doesn't even come close to hitting the furry

thief.

TYRONE
(New York accent)
Miss me chunky butt!

Tyrone disappears into the wheat field.

13.

JIMBO
G-G-Get away from here! P-P-Pesky
varmint.

The back door swings open and PAUL CALLAHAN, who's around
eighteen, smiles bight in the doorway.

PAUL CALLAHAN
Coon problems again?

Paul walks toward Jimbo.

JIMBO
Almost g-g-got'em this time.

PAUL CALLAHAN
Sure you did. Just like that time
before that. And the time before
that, AND the time before that.

Jimbo puts his pistol back in it's holster and ignores Paul;
he's not in the mood for humor.

Paul rest his hand of Jimbo's shoulder.

PAUL CALLAHAN (CONT'D)

Ah c'mon little buddy, don't be
like that. Now if you would've let
me show you a few pointers. You
could've had him by now.

Paul picks up a tin can from the scattered trash and tosses
it in the air --

BANG, BANG, BANG!

-- The can falls to the ground with several holes in it.

PAUL CALLAHAN (CONT'D)

See what I mean?
Jimbo rolls his eyes.

JIMBO
Show off.

PAUL CALLAHAN
Nope, that's countless hours of
training from the best --

They say the name together but Jimbo says it sarcastically.

TOGETHER
-- Nate The Great Callahan.
14.

Paul cuts his eye at Jimbo.

Jimbo hunches over in fear.

Surprisingly, Paul lets off a slight snicker.

PAUL CALLAHAN
C'mon on let's go get something to
eat.

EXT. ALKEBULAN -DAY

Tyrone proudly prances through the forest, he juggles a half

eaten hot dog.

Rashad who's all grown up but still small in stature, nods to

his group of friends. He smiles.

RASHAD
You won't be content until you're
full of holes. Stay of the humans
property.

TYRONE
And go hungry? Yeah right. A
brother got to feed his family, by
any means necessary.

RASHAD
There's plenty of food in the
forest! But I forgot, you don't
want to work for it.

All the other deer erupt in laughter.

TYRONE
Yeah whatever. Those rich people
won't miss these scraps.

Tyrone walks away but turns back around.

TYRONE (CONT'D)
And quit being such a scary cat and
grow a pair, why don't ya.

Tyrone tosses his head up with dignity and struts away. He

walks a few paces and is greeted by a TROOP of coons.

TROOP
DADDY! DADDY! What you get this
time?!

He tosses the meal down and the troop pounces on it!

15.

However, one overweight coon JUNIOR is getting more than his

fair share.

Tyrone kisses his wife and looks at his son.

TYRONE
Junior, don't be such a pig! Geesh.

Just as Tyrone finishes talking a deer with only antler and

googly eyes, CECIL, the motherland's shade tree scientist
walks by.

CECIL
Morning Tyrone... Mrs. Tyrone...
Kids --

Cecil jumps back, shocked at the ravenous pack of coons.

CECIL (CONT'D)
-- looks like their doing just
fine.

Cecil shakes off what he just witnesses and continues to the

lab.

INT. PURE GENIUS LABS - DAY

Cecil walks into a shack-like building with papers scattered,

inventions that are half done, and one giant figure covered
by a sheet.

He looks at set of blueprints on an easel, but feels an eerie

presence. He spins around -- In his face is the most massive
of all deer. This deer has twelve razor sharp antlers and one
protruding horn in the middle. It's KASIM and he's grown up.

CECIL
(nervously)
KASIM? I didn't expect to see this
early.
Kasim has a stony glare.

KASIM
Cecil, what is the status of my
weapon?

CECIL
Oh yeah, it's almost done but --

Cecil shuffles papers and examines other inventions; he's a

nitwit.
16.

CECIL (CONT'D)
-- Tyrone asks about his grabber
two-thousand and Ms. Pearl wanted
prune extractor.
(pause)
You know her bowl movements aren't
like they used to be.

Cecil winks.

Kasim flares his nostrils.

KASIM
LISTEN, you poor excuse for a
mammal. Not only have you not
delivered on your promise, but your
procrastination has led more HUMANS
to move into Graceland.

CECIL
Let me see where I have you on the
list --

Cecil bends down to pick up a clipboard. Kasim heavy hoof

steps on it.

KASIM
-- Maybe I didn't make myself
clear.
(pause)
You will have what I asked for THIS
WEEKEND.

Cecil glances up at Kasim and gulps; he got the message.

Cecil nods his head and gets busy.

Kasim exits the building.

CECIL
YES, IT WILL BE DONE QUICK, FAST,
AND IN A HURRY!
Rashad enters the building.

RASHAD
Cecil, are you ok?

CECIL
Huh? Oh Rashad, it's just you.

Cecil sighs in relief. He looks back and forth.

17.

RASHAD
It is good to see you too. Hey do
you think you can build me a tool
that would make me disappear, then
reappear?
(pause)
I can't seem to beat N'kia at her
little game.

Cecil ignores Rashad and gather his tools.

CECIL
Can't, I got to get started on
Kasim's weapon, ASAP.

RASHAD
Kasim?

CECIL
Yeah, you just missed him.

RASHAD
WAIT A MINUTE, did you say weapon?
For what?

CECIL
Something to get rid of the human
population for good. Particularly
the Callahan's.

Rashad eyes widen.

RASHAD
WHAT? You can't do that. The
Callahans are good humans... Well,
Paul is.

Cecil joins two pieces of metal together. He's focused.

CECIL
Maybe he is, maybe he isn't, all I
know is, Kasim is NOT taking no for
an answer on this project.
(pause)
It has to be done by Saturday.

RASHAD
Why Saturday?

CECIL
The Big Deer games will be held
here this year. So if you would
excuse me, I'm not trying to get on
Kasim's bad side.
18.

CECIL (CONT'D)
(looks in space)
Come to think about it, I don't
think Kasim has another side.

Cecil puts head down and starts to work again.

RASHAD
You can't finish that weapon. The
power of life and death is not
ours.

CECIL
Whatever Rashad, all I know is
Kasim is head deer around here and
I have a job to do.
(pause)
Besides, why you care what happens
to the humans, unless you're
friends with them.

There's a few seconds of silence.

Cecil looks up at Rashad!

CECIL (CONT'D)
WAIT A MINUTE. YOU'RE FRIENDS WITH
THE HUMANS?!

Rashad grins uncomfortably.

Cecil slaps his forehead!

CECIL (CONT'D)
Do you know what will happen to you
if Kasim finds out?! Awe man, this
can't be happening! Kasim is going
kill you.
(pause)
NO WAIT. He's going kill us,
because I knew about it!
Rashad slap Cecil across the face!

CECIL (CONT'D)
(holds cheek)
Ouch! What you do that for?

RASHAD
Sorry, but I need you to focus. I
know it's not ours ways to befriend
the humans, but Paul is different.

CECIL
What makes you so sure?
19.

RASHAD
Well --

EXT. ALKEBULAN - EDGE OF THE FOREST - DAY (FLASHBACK)

An arrow whistles through the air and hits a target. Seconds

later a second arrow splits that one down the middle.

In the distance we see young Paul, no more than seven and

Nathan Senior with a bow in his hand.

YOUNG PAUL
Whoa! Paw that was fantastic!

Nathan Senior nods and smirks.

THE GREAT
Ok Junior, your turn. Hold it like
just like taught ya.

Paul holds up his bow; he attempts to look down the shaft of

the arrow but it trembles.

The arrow rockets away -- it breaks hard right and goes into
a thick green wall of bushes. Nathan Senior snatches him up
by the arm.

THE GREAT (CONT'D)

Damn it boy! Didn't I tell ya not
to shoot it unless it was perfect!
Now you've lost one of my good
arrows.

THE GREAT (CONT'D)

Well go out there and find it and
don't take all day.

Paul drops his head and mopes to the woods.

Nathan Senior watches the boy and shakes his head. He walks
back toward an old truck in the distance.

THE GREAT (CONT'D)

I don't understand you should've
had this down by now. Might be a
waste of time.

Paul hears his grandfather's words; he winces. But anger

builds with every step. He cuts his eye back at Nathan
Senior.
20.

YOUNG PAUL
(mumbles)
Hold the arrow, shoot the arrow, go
get the arrow. Nothings ever good
enough for you.

Paul sees the arrow and reaches down, but through a crack in
the shrubbery he sees a buck wandering. His heart flutters.

The deer sniffs the air and comes over to the bushes. Paul
reaches for something on his side -- the deer is now staring
into his eyes.

Paul pulls out a hand full granola. He holds it out.

YOUNG PAUL (CONT'D)

(whispers)
Come on, I ain't gonna hurt ya...

The young buck is overtaken by the smell and nibbles. He's

been hunting food all day.

YOUNG PAUL (CONT'D)

... See. Ya like that don't ya. You
sure are a little guy. Why you out
here by yourself?
(pause)
Wonder what your name is?

YOUNG RASHAD
(African accent)
Rashad.

Paul stumbles backwards and trips.

YOUNG PAUL
WHOA YOU CAN TALK?

YOUNG RASHAD
Yeah, what's your name?
YOUNG PAUL
Uh... Paul. I don't get it. You can
understand me? But how?
(pause)
I must be dreaming.

Rashad piches him.

YOUNG PAUL (CONT'D)

Ouch!
21.

YOUNG RASHAD
You're not dreaming. You mean to
tell me that you're the only one
that can understand us?

YOUNG PAUL
I think so.

YOUNG RASHAD
That's weird. We all can understand
your kind.

YOUNG PAUL
You mean all the animals can speak?

Rashad nods.

YOUNG RASHAD
Hey my friend Tyrone told me that
you guys have a cave where you have
a bunch of heads on a wall.
(pause)
Is that true?

Paul looks down embarrassed.

YOUNG PAUL
Uh... No.

YOUNG RASHAD
I knew he was a liar! Those coons
from the city are full of it! I
like you Paul. You're like the
others.

YOUNG PAUL
I like you too --

Rashad chokes in fear. He looks past Paul.

YOUNG PAUL (CONT'D)

-- What? What's wrong --

BANG!

Paul turns and sees his Nathan Senior aiming a shotgun.

YOUNG PAUL (CONT'D)

PAW NO! Don't do it, he's my
friend!

THE GREAT
Out the way Junior!
22.

Nathan senior fires again but Paul leaps in warms way. Rashad
uses the opportunity to dart off into the woods.

Nathan senior walks over reloading his rifle. He's pissed.

THE GREAT (CONT'D)

Boy, why you let him get away? You
must've lost your ever loving mind
jumping in front of me like that.

Paul rolls his eyes and fetches his hat.

THE GREAT (CONT'D)

You hear me boy -- you answer me
when I'm talking to you Junior.
Paul eyeballs his grandfather.

YOUNG PAUL
My name is PAUL.

THE GREAT
(confused)
What? That's what I called you.

Nathan senior disregards the young boy's words and shoves him
towards the truck.

THE GREAT (CONT'D)

I know your darn name. Don't be
sassing me. Can't believe you're
down here making friends with the
enemy.
(pause)
What you trying to do, ruin my good
name?

INT. PURE GENIUS LABS - DAY (PRESENT DAY)

RASHAD
Now you see why you can't finish
that weapon?

CECIL
Uh... Yeah, that's cool story but
Kasim is not gonna be concerned
with granola.

Rashad ahskes his head.

23.

RASHAD
Ok, Ok, just give me a little time
to talk to Kasim to see if I can
change mind.

CECIL
Good luck with that.

Cecil continues to work.

Rashad rushes out the lab.

EXT. ALKEBULAN - TYRONE'S PLACE - DAY

Rashad pauses in front of Tyrone and his cubs. They are in

the middle of an obstacle course.

TYRONE
Yo Rashad, come check out the trick
I taught Junior!

RASHAD
I can't, got to find Kasim! You
seen him?!

TYRONE
Nah, check Warrior's field!

Rashad shoots in that direction.

Tyrone looks at his son.

TYRONE (CONT'D)
Ok Junior, this time try to steal
the orange.

The little chubby coon frowns in displesure.

JUNIOR COON
Awe dad, do have to? I'm tired of
stealing fruit

TYRONE
Yes, you gotta perfect your craft.
Again, c'mon.

JUNIOR COON
Cab we at least do it with the
moldy hotdog you found?

Tyrone slaps his forehead.

24.

EXT. ALKEBULAN - THE MOUND - DAY

Rashad zips past Ms. Pearl and N'kia talking.

Ms. Pearl looks with concern.

MS. PEARL
(to N'kia)
... Sometimes forgiveness is the
hardest thing to give. But if we do
it, it sets us free.

N'KIA
But what about when something is
taken so dear to you? I want to
believe, but it's so hard.

An image appears of Montavious and N'kia playing. However,

Ms. Pearl can see the vision too.

Ms. Pearl caresses N'kia, pulls the vision down and puts it
inside of N'kia's heart.

MS. PEARL
If you keep it here babe, no one
can ever take it from you.
(pause)
But hate and love can't live there
at the same time.

N'kia nods in agreement.

N'KIA
That's why I like here Ms. Pearl.
You always have the answers.

EXT. ALKEBULAN - WARRIOR'S FIELD - DAY

Rashad sees Kasim training with three well built bucks. They
are having trouble keeping up.

Kasim has one on the ground looking down at him.

KASIM
Is that your best attack?

DEER #1 looks up and pants.

DEER #1
Kasim we are done. We need a break.
25.

KASIM
A BREAK? It is a guarantee the
hunters will not take pity on you.
How do you expect to make them
pay?!

Kasim looks in the distance. He's in deep thought.

DEER #1
Uh... I just showed up for a few
lessons from the champ. What about
you guys?

The Deer looks at the other two deer for approval; they nod
in approval.

Kasim snaps out his daze.

KASIM
What?! You imbeciles! This a waste
of time! Get out of my sight!

The deer scramble to get away.

Kasim watch the deer run in the distance.

KASIM (CONT'D)
You may not understand now, but we
are being hunted like mere beast.
We must defend ourselves by any
means --

Rashad walks up behind Kasim.

RASHAD
-- Kasim do you got a sec..?

Kasim spins around and places Rashad on the ground within

seconds. His razor-sharp antlers are at Rashad's neck.

Rashad gulps.
KASIM
RASHAD? What are you doing here
announced? I almost ended your
life.

Kasim extends his horns to Rashad for assistance, then backs

away.

RASHAD
Sorry, I didn't to frighten you.
26.

KASIM
You? Frighten me? Don't be
ridulous.

Kasim starts to train again; he lunges into a hanging human

dummy.

RASHAD
It's been awhile since we talked. I
was hoping we could catch up.

KASIM
Sorry, but you caught me at a bad
time old friend.

RASHAD
Yeah I see. Hey, I stopped by
Cecil's today.

Kasim walks over to a tool meant for sharping his antlers.

KASIM
Oh that bumbling idiot.

Rashad laughs uncomfortably.

RASHAD
He mentioned some kind of weapon he
was building for you to destroy the
Callahans.

KASIM
That is correct.

RASHAD
But Paul is one of the good guys. I
figured you forgot we used --

Kasim is suddenly in the face of Rashad.

KASIM
-- Maybe you have forgotten what
those HUMANS took from me, but I
haven't.
(pause)
I vowed the day I watched my
father's eyes close, that I would
make them pay for their sins.

RASHAD
I remember. I was there. But it
wasn't Paul. He shouldn't have to
pay for what his father did.
27.

Kasim looks away from his friend. He goes back to training.

RASHAD (CONT'D)
Kasim? Kasim, did you hear what I
said?

Kasim sticks his antlers inside the human dummy.

RASHAD (CONT'D)
Kasim --

KASIM
-- WILL YOU STOP IT!

Kasim pauses to look at Rashad.

KASIM (CONT'D)
Do you hear yourself? You are
defending the enemy. They could
care less about what happens to us.
(pause)
What's wrong with you?

Kasim stares out in the distance.

KASIM (CONT'D)
You must leave this place. It is
clear whose side you are on.

Rashad drops his head and walks away.

KASIM (CONT'D)
(still looks away)
RASHAD... The next time our paths
cross, be prepared. You are like
one of them to me now.

Rashad shakes his head and walks back to the forest.

Kasim finally turns and watches his friend in the distance.

KASIM (CONT'D)
Rashad you are a dreamer. I wish we
could live in harmony. If we all
had your heart, maybe we could.

EXT. MURPHY'S CREEK - DAY

A boat sits in the middle of a shimmering lake. Paul and

Nathan senior fishing poles are stretched out from opposite
sides of the boat.

Paul breathes in the morning air.

28.

PAUL CALLAHAN
That's smell good. Reminds me of
those summer mornings as a kid.

Nathan senior cracks a smile.

THE GREAT
I remember you couldn't sit still
for two seconds. Couldn't catch
nothing on the count of you making
so mush racket.

They both laugh.

PAUL CALLAHAN
What you expect a kid to do.
Sitting in ONE spot all day was
absolute torture.

THE GREAT
I understand. Listen, I wanted to
away, so we can discuss some
important business.

Paul focuses in on his grandfather.

THE GREAT (CONT'D)

Son, my days here on earth are
numbered --

PAUL CALLAHAN
-- C'mon Paw, don't talk like that.

THE GREAT
Jsut hear me out. It would really
do my heart some good if you enter
the Big Deer games for Paw.

Paul rolls his eyes.

PAUL CALLAHAN
REALLY? Do we have to talk about
this today? And here I was thinking
you wanted to spend some time with
me.

THE GREAT
SON, it's a must that you enter
that contest, and WIN.

PAUL CALLAHAN
Why is that Paw?
29.

THE GREAT
The Callahan name is depends on it.

Paul looks at grandfather in disgust and shakes his head.

PAUL CALLAHAN
I'm not interested in harming those
animals and I'm not interested in
living in pride.

Paul casts his reel out across the water.

Nathan senior grabs his arm.

THE GREAT
Damn it boy! You're gonna get in
that contest and you're gonna pay
back that deer that took your daddy
from us.

Paul eyeballs his grandfather and snatches away.

PAUL CALLAHAN
I AM NOT SEVEN ANYMORE.

Nathan senior gets the picture; the air in chest goes out. He
looks away.

There is a few seconds of silence.

THE GREAT
The farm needs. We are in the hole
several thousand.

Paul looks at his grandfather with sympathy.

PAUL CALLAHAN
How long do we have?

Nathan senior looks at the water and slowly reels his line
back in.

THE GREAT
Maybe a few days.

Paul exhales.

PAUL CALLAHAN
(mumbles)
I'll do it.

Nathan senior smirks but Paul can't see it. He then composes
himself.
30.

THE GREAT
Thanks son.
(pause)
OH, I ALMOST FORGOT.

Nathan senior spins back around. He digs in his shirt pocket

and pulls out a necklace with first place pendant attached.

PAUL CALLAHAN
Whoa! It's dad winning medal!

Nathan senior hands it him.

PAUL CALLAHAN (CONT'D)

I can't take that
THE GREAT
Nonsense. He would've wanted you to
have it.

Paul holds it and is mesmerized

THE GREAT (CONT'D)

He would've been proud of you
today.

PAUL CALLAHAN
I don't know what to say.

Nathan senior rest his hand on the Paul's shoulder.

THE GREAT
Say you'll be champ.

Paul nods frantically.

PAUL CALLAHAN
I will. I will Paw.

Nathan senior pulls his grandson into his chest. We see a

sinister smirk emerge from that stony face.

INT. PURE GENIUS LABS - DAY

Tyrone enters the lab.

TYRONE
Yo Cecil! Where you at?!

Tyrone tinkers with the gadgets and inventions.

TYRONE (CONT'D)
Cecil! You here?!
31.

CECIL (O.S.)
Over here Tyrone!

Cecil bushy tail sticks out the top of metal monstrosity.

Tyrone walks over and props up against the giant metal

figure.

TYRONE
Hey, did you get a chance to finish
what I asked you for?

CECIL (O.S.)
Yeah, it's over by the blueprint
table.

Tyrone walks in that direction but trips over a metal

invention on the floor.

TYRONE
Dang it! You ever thought about
cleaning up around here?

CECIL (O.S.)
Yeah, but I hadn't had time since
Kasim wants this weapon.

TYRONE
Weapon for what?

CECIL (O.S.)
He's going to rid Alkebulan of the
humans for good. Especially the
Callahans.

Tyrone stops in mid stride.

TYRONE
Did you say get rid of the
Callahans?

CECIL (O.S.)
Yeah he says it's the big pay back.
He'll be....

Cecil continues to talk in the bcakground but Tyrone thinks.

TYRONE
(mumbles)
Once the Callahan's are out of the
way, nothing won't stop me from
achieving paradise.
32.

EXT. THE BIG HOUSE - BACKYARD - DAY (VISION)

Tyrone runs through tons of garbage and food with his family.
He sees Junior swimming in a pool of garbage, and chewing as
he goes.

CECIL (O.S.)
-- Did you find it..?

Tyrone is sucked out of his vision.

INT. PURE GENIUS LABS - DAY (END VISION)

TYRONE
What's that -- Oh yeah, sure.
(pause)
Where did you say Kasim was headed
to?

CECIL (O.S.)
Don't know, but you know Kasim. You
don't find him, he finds you.

Cecil pops out the contraption and stares into space.

CECIL (CONT'D)
He's like the wind, one minute
here's and the next he's not.

Cecil drops back into the machines and works again.

TYRONE
Uh... yeah. Guess I'll be moseying.
(pause)
Holla at ya later.

EXT. ALKEBULAN - THE PATH - DAY

Rashad walks in a daze and thinks of his friendship with

Kasim.

EXT. ALKEBULAN - WARRIOR'S FIELD - DAY (FLASHBACK)

Two young male bucks antlers are intertwined. They push and
pull for supremacy but we also hear laughter from them.

YOUNG KASIM
(grunts)
Come on Rashad, apply yourself.
33.

YOUNG RASHAD
(grunts)
What do you think I'm doing!

Kasim spins and slings Rashad several feet. He laughs.

Rashad stands but staggers.

YOUNG RASHAD (CONT'D)

What you do that for.

YOUNG KASIM
Always expect the unexpected. The
humans are crafty.

YOUNG RASHAD
You are taking this entirely too
seriously.

YOUNG KASIM
I'm preparing.

Rashad shakes his head.

YOUNG RASHAD
You're always preparing.

Kasim eyeballs his friend.

YOUNG KASIM
Because I know what's coming.
(pause)
Come on, I must get home before
Baba arrives.

Kasim strolls off but Rashad gazes at his friend, puzzled.

EXT. ALKEBULAN - THE PATH - DAY (PRESENT DAY)

RASHAD
He's been ready for this.

N'KIA (O.S.)
Ready for what?

Rashad spins around and sees N'kia.

RASHAD
Things about to get really bad.
Kasim is preparing for a war with
Paul. He even has Cecil making some
kind of special weapon.
34.

Her eyes widen.

N'KIA
Oh no, we must tell Ms. Pearl.
She'll know what to do.

The two deer race off into the forest.

INT. ALKEBULAN - KASIM'S LAIR - DAY

Tyrone creeps into a dark and wet cave. His eyes dart back
and forth with every step.

TYRONE
(whispers)
Kasim... Buddy... Pal, you in home?

Tyrone sees the skulls of human being on the cave walls. He

shivers but presses onward but then... stumbles. He raises up
like the Karate Kid; one foot in the air and arms spread.

TYRONE (CONT'D)
Whoa! Hey, I'm warning you. I know
seven styles of kung-fu.

Tyrone looks down and sees a stone. He backs up but is

hindered by two towering beams. Reaching back, he touches the
beams, then looks up -- From above two red eyes appear from
the darkness and a Kasim's dark face descends.

KASIM
BOO!

Tyrone bolts across the room and crashes into a wall, which
loosens a big rock that is about to crush him -- suddenly, it
shatters into dust from Kasim's hind legs.

Tyrone stares at Kasim in admiration.

TYRONE
(trembles)
Thanks Buddy.

Kasim glances at Tyrone with contempt.

KASIM
Tyrone, what do I owe the pleasure
of your presence.

TYRONE
(nervous laugh)
Funny you should ask.
35.

TYRONE (CONT'D)
I stopped by Cecil's and he
mentioned you were getting rid of
the Callahans.
(pause)
And I thought you could use my
help.

Kasim smirks.

KASIM
ME? USE YOUR HELP?

Kasim scoffs and laughs uncontrobaly.

TYRONE (O.S.)
I know where they keep the special
bullets!

Tyrone watches Kasim laugh come to abrupt halt.

TYRONE (CONT'D)
Oh, we're not laughing so hard
anymore now are we? Ready to talk
business?

KASIM
Speak.

Tyrone rubs his paws together.

TYRONE
Well I was thinking after the
Callahans are gone, all that
wonderful garbage will be ours for
the taking.

Kasim rushes the small coon and backs him into a corner.

KASIM
I could care less about excessive
need for rotten food. In fact, it's
repulsive! The only reason I've let
you stay in my presence this long
is because of your information.
(pause)
And if that is not shared quickly,
the Motherland will be absent of
ONE TINY RODENT.

Tyrone gulps!

TYRONE
Why didn't you just say that at
first --
(MORE)
36.

TYRONE (CONT'D)
(pause)
-- Could you put me down?

Kasim lowers him to the ground and backs away.

TYRONE (CONT'D)
They keep all their special weapons
and ammo in a big safe in the
cellar. I happen to know the
combination to lock.
(pause)
I could go get them tonight for you
if you like.

KASIM
Well, well, well. The little weasel
may get to keep his life after all.

TYRONE
Uh, thanks.

KASIM
Bring those bullets back to me and
you may get your... GARBAGE.

Tyrone's countance bightens as he knocks the dirt off his

coat.

Kasim is no longer amused. He walks away but Tyrone doesn't

notice he's gone.

TYRONE
Kasim in my line of work you can't
be afraid to get your hands a
little dirty.
(pause)
Let's say we meet back here 'round
midnight...?

Tyrone looks back for Kasim but doesn't see him. He walks to
the exit.
TYRONE (CONT'D)
I'll take that as a yes. What a
douce

Tyrone hears a crakle and hurries out the exit.

EXT. ALKEBULAN - THE MOUND - DAY

N'kia and Rashad arrive at Ms. Pearls place and see her
rocking in tiny swing.
37.

N'KIA
Ms. Pearl!

The small groundhod tilts her glasses.

MS. PEARL
N'kia, back so soon? And look, you
brought Rashad, what a pleasent
surprise.

N'KIA
We need your help! It's Kasim.

MS. PEARL
My goodness. I haven't seen him in
ages. How is he?

N'KIA
Tell her Rashad.

Rashad drops his head.

RASHAD
He's planning to kill Paul.

Ms. Pearl clutches a set of pearls around her neck and gasps
for air.

MS. PEARL
The rage in the poor soul has
overtaken him. Vengeance is never
full till it's consumed it's
carrier.

RASHAD
Cecil is building him a special
weapon.

N'KIA
I've told him so many times Paul
had nothing to do with Baba's death
but he won't listen. What are we
going to do?

MS. PEARL
There is nothing we can do. If
someone's heart is bent, no amount
of truth will be able to straighten
it.

Ms. Pearl takes in a deep breath.

38.

MS. PEARL (CONT'D)

The best thing to do is warn Paul,
so he can prepare.

RASHAD
I'll tell him in the morning.

EXT. THE BIG HOUSE - BACKYARD - NIGHT

The light of the moon hits a moving metal object coming

across the field. Tyrone approaches the backyard of the
mansion holding the Grabber two-thousand.

He surveys the area.

TYRONE
(whispers)
Looks like everyone is sound
asleep. This should be a piece of
cake.

He sprints over to the cellar and swiftly picks the lock.

He lets down the hook of the Grabber two-thousand; it knocks

over a few boxes, but grabs a glass case.

Tyrone smiles in victory but then -- a cage slams down over

him!

JIMBO (O.S.)
GOTCHA!

Tyrone turns and sees Jimbo sneering.

Jimbo picks up the cage and gazes at the coon.

JIMBO (CONT'D)
End of the road for you p-p-pesky v-
v-varmint.
(pause)
PAUL! PAUL, I G-G-GOT'EM!

A sequence of lights pop on in the house. The back door opens

and Paul stands with his night clothes on rubbing his eyes.
He yawns and smiles.

PAUL CALLAHAN
Well I'll be darn, looks like you
finally got'em.

JIMBO
I told ya, I would. He was p-p-
pretty slick but I --
39.

The ground begins to shake.

Jimbo peers out into the darkness with wide-eyed fear.

JIMBO (CONT'D)
(whispers)
Montavious.

Dancing fiery eyes emerge in the darkness.

PAUL CALLAHAN
No it's Kasim.

With blitzing speed, Kasim snatches the cage from Jimbo's

hand and knocks him down in the process.
TYRONE
It's about time!

Kasim turns back around and eyeballs Jimbo; he lunges back

for him!

Paul eyes widen; he reaches in the corner for his rifle.

PAUL CALLAHAN
Jimbo get out of the way!

BANG!

Time slows down.

Kasim sees the bullet, dips his horns, and it bounces away.
He disappears into the black night.

Jimbo is spared by Paul's quick response.

They both stare out into the night.

PAUL CALLAHAN (CONT'D)

You ok?
Jimbo's eyes are still wide.

JIMBO
Y-Y-Yeah. That wasn't Montavious?

PAUL CALLAHAN
That's his son Kasim.

JIMBO
He's BIG. G-G-Gonna big prize.
40.

PAUL CALLAHAN
C'mon in the house. We gotta get
some rest.

Paul opens the door as Jimbo enters, but Paul thinks as he

stares into the night.

PAUL CALLAHAN (CONT'D)

(whispers)
Wonder why he showed up tonight.

INT. PURE GENIUS LABS - DAY

The sound of a drill buzzes and a hammer knocks. Turning the

corner Cecil works from a ladder on a dark figure we can
barely see.

He steps off the ladder and nods.

CECIL
This may be my best work ever.

A gust of wind makes him shiver. He looks around and doesn't

see anything.

CECIL (CONT'D)
I got to fix that AC.

Cecil turns back and stares in the eyes piercing of Kasim.

He knocks over the ladder to try to get away, but falls.

CECIL (CONT'D)
KASIM? How did you -- I mean where--

KASIM
-- Is it finished?

Cecil stands and smiles proudly.

CECIL
I just finished it. You ought to
see what this thing can do! Ultra-
sonic hearing, cloaking device,
super strength --

Kasim cuts his eye at Cecil.

KASIM
-- But you said you JUST finished.
HOW do you know it can perform?

Cecil grabs a laptop and walks to the exit.

41.

EXT. PURE GENIUS LABS - DAY

Cecil punches buttons on the keypad.

Kasim exits the building and strolls over to Cecil.

KASIM
This better be good.

Cecil winks and suddenly the garage door creeps open and we
see red gleaming eyes peer from the dark room.

From the shadows a monstrosity walks in their mist; it's the

biggest metal deer ever seen.

The ROBOT turns its head to Cecil.

ROBOT
What is your wish master?

Cecil looks at Kasim.

CECIL
What do you think?

Kasim strolls around the robot; inspecting it.

KASIM
You make me a talking trash can and
expect me to be impressed?

CECIL
Can trash can do this?

Cecil touches the keypad and the Robot vanishes from their
sight.

Kasim's eyes shines bright.

KASIM
Now this is what I am talking
about! Where is it now?

Cecil touches the keypad again and the Robot re-appears

behind Kasim -- Startled, Kasim kicks the Robot with his
hinds legs and decapatates it.

Kasim looks at Cecil.

KASIM (CONT'D)
AHH! See what you made me do you
bumbling fool!
(pause)
42.

KASIM (CONT'D)
Pick up this mess, and have it
ready for the Games!

Cecil scrambles to pick up the parts. He focuses on the mess.

CECIL
Sorry, sorry, It'll be ready. Where
do you want me to meet you?

Cecil hears silence. He looks around and Kasim is gone.

INT. THE BIG HOUSE - DINING ROOM - DAY

Paul, his wife, BRENDA CALLAHAN, his son, and Jimbo are
sitting at the table eating breakfast.

Brenda glances at Paul.

BRENDA
What's wrong hun? You've hardly
touched your plate.

Paul swirls his fork on his plate; thinking. He sighs.

PAUL CALLAHAN
Nothing. Just thinking about the
contest.

She touches his hand.

BRENDA
Don't worry, you're going to do
great.
(pause)
I can make you something else if
you like.

PAUL CALLAHAN
That's ok, I appreciate it. This is
fine. Besides, if I don't finish
Jimbo will help me out.

Everyone's attention shifts to Jimbo. He is pigging out.

JIMBO
What? I g-g-get hungry on c-c-comp--

PAUL CALLAHAN
-- Competition day?

JIMBO
Yeah.
43.

Everyone burst in to laughter, but it is cut short --

THE GREAT (O.S.)

PAUL1 get up here and give me a
hand.

Paul looks to another room and towards the ceiling.

PAUL CALLAHAN
Yes sir, I'll be right up!
(to family)
Will you all excuse me.

Paul slides back from the table, kisses his son on the
forehead, and exits the room.

EXT. ALKEBULAN - EDGE OF THE FOREST - DAY

Rashad and N'kia are in route to the Callahan estate.

N'KIA
... I don't understand how he
turned os evil.

RASHAD
Don't say that, he's not evil. He
just doesn't know what to do with
the hurt.
(pause)
I believe there's still some good
in there somewhere.

N'kia smiles.

N'KIA
That is why I love you.

N'kia's eyes widen. She's shocked by her own words.

N'KIA (CONT'D)
I mean LIKE. That's why I like you.

The two deer keep walking forward but there is pin-drop

silence.

N'kia's eyes dart back and forth.

N'KIA (CONT'D)
Hey Rashad remember when we used
play with Paul as children.

Rashad laughs.
44.

RASHAD
How can I forget. It is because of
him we could not finish an entire
game.

EXT. ALKEBULAN - DAY (FLASHBACK)

Young Paul is next to a tree with his face covered.

YOUNG PAUL
... Eighty, Ninety... ONE-HUNDRED!
Ready or not, here I come!

Paul steps away form the tree and surveys the area; Nothing.

YOUNG PAUL (CONT'D)

Guys? Guys? Where are you?
(pause)
N'kia..?

Rashad...?

Paul walks and looks but there is no movement in the forest.

His little eyes shift bcak and forth.

YOUNG PAUL (CONT'D)

Ok, I don't want to play anymore.
Guys..?

Rashad and N'kia are behind a big tree. They see him and
snicker.

Paul's fill with tears.

N'kia glances ovr at Rashad.

YOUNG N'KIA
(whispers)
Awe no Rashad, he's crying. We got
to do something.
YOUNG RASHAD
(whispers)
Yeah you are right.

Paul wipes his eyes and in the distance he sees Rashad and
N'kia coming his way.

YOUNG PAUL
GUYS! YOU'RE STILL HERE! I thought
you guys left me.
(pause)
45.

YOUNG PAUL (CONT'D)

I started to hear all kinds of
weird sounds.

YOUNG N'KIA
Awe Paul we'll never leave you.

YOUNG PAUL
I love you guys.

Paul hugs the two deer.

YOUNG RASHAD
You're our friend Paul. We love you
too.

EXT. ALKEBULAN - EDGE OF THE FOREST - DAY (PRESENT DAY)

N'KIA
I wish Kasim could have known Paul
like we did.

RASHAD
Yeah, he is a good one.

Rashad stares at N'Kia.

RASHAD (CONT'D)
You have a big heart. That is why I
love you.

The two deer lock eyes and engage in a small kiss. N'Kia
blushes.

N'KIA
We better hurry.

Rashad looks toward the mansion.

RASHAD
Uh yeah, let's go.
They smile uncomfortably and dash off toward the house.

INT. THE BIG HOUSE - BEDROOM - DAY

Paul enters his grandfather's room.

PAUL CALLAHAN
Morning Paw-Paw, what's up?

Nathan senior tries to tie a tie in the mirror on the

dresser.
46.

THE GREAT
Today is the big day! Time to show
those rookies what the name
CALLAHAN name is all about.

Paul unpretentiously looks at the ground.

Nathan senior stares at him in the mirror.

THE GREAT (CONT'D)

Ain't no time to be bashful.
Hunting is in your blood boy. So
you're just gonna show it today.

PAUL CALLAHAN
I'm gonna do my best and have a
little fun.

Nathan senior leaves the tie alone in frustration.

THE GREAT
FUN?! What are you five? Today is
not about FUN.

Nathan senior glares at Paul. He then points --

THE GREAT (CONT'D)

Grab that paper on the night stand.

Paul picks up a pamphlet and reads it.

THE GREAT (CONT'D)

Come help me with this darn thing.

Paul walks over and helps his grandfather tie the tie.

THE GREAT (CONT'D)

Black Arrow enterprises is this
year's sponsor. The winner will the
face of that company for the next
few years.
(pause)
I want to be that face.

Paul finished the tie and started to walk away but Nathan
senior grabs him. He rests both hands on his grandson's
shoulders.

THE GREAT (CONT'D)

This would've been a proud day for
your father. Shucks, I'M proud.
You're gonna win this thing today.
I feel it in my bones...
47.

Paul smiles at his grandfather.

Nathan senior zeroes in on Paul.

THE GREAT (CONT'D)

... You're gonna get that beast
that took him from us. Ain't that
right?

Paul fills the weight of his grandfather's words.

PAUL CALLAHAN
(whispers)
Yes sir.

THE GREAT
(firm)
Louder boy.

PAUL CALLAHAN
YES SIR.

A tiny smile peers through Nathan senior's wrinkled face.

THE GREAT
Now that's the spirit. We better
get a move on. Reach over and pass
me my cane.

Paul passes the cane and gathers his grandfather's coat.

They exit the room.

INT. THE BIG HOUSE - STAIRS - DAY - CONTINUOUS

The two men descend down the stairs but Paul glances out the
window and sees the old wooden sign pointed north.

His eyes widen.

PAUL CALLAHAN
AH... Paw-Paw I forgot to tidy
something up outside. Go ahead and
grab you some breakfast and I'll
meet you at the truck.

Nathan senior scoffs.

THE GREAT
Hurry up and handle your business
boy. We got to get a move on!
48.

EXT. THE BIG HOUSE - BACKYARD - DAY

Paul exits the back door looking from left to right. He heads
to the wooden sign that's next to a small shed.

He whispers nervously.

PAUL CALLAHAN
Guys...

The two deer emerge from the dense woods behind the shed.

PAUL CALLAHAN (CONT'D)

(whispers)
WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE? THEY ARE
ITCHING TO SHOOT SOMETHING.
N'KIA
(whispers)
Paul you got to listen. It's not
going to be safe out there for you
today.
(pause)
Kasim is planning on getting his
revenge on every hunter and YOU
especially.

PAUL CALLAHAN
Me? But I was just a kid when that
happened.

RASHAD
He doesn't care. He even had Cecil
make him a special weapon. You
can't go out there or you will--
(pause)
-- well you know.

PAUL CALLAHAN
So that's why that coon was
snooping around here last night.
The deer stare at each other.

BOTH DEER
TYRONE!

PAUL CALLAHAN
This is just great. It's too late
to back out now. There's too much
at stake.
49.

RASHAD
Try to do what you can Paul. We'll
go talk to Tyrone and see why he
was here --

A twig cracks behind Paul. He spins around!

PAUL CALLAHAN
PAW-PAW?!

Nathan holds a cup of coffee and stares at his grandson with

concern.

THE GREAT
Who you out here talking to boy?

Paul spins around and the deer have disappeared.

PAUL CALLAHAN
Huh? Ah... Nobody.

THE GREAT
You sure were having a good
conversation with NOBODY.
(pause)
Better put your things in the
truck.

PAUL CALLAHAN
Yes sir.

Paul walks away but Nathan senior stares out at woods sipping
his coffee.

THE GREAT
NOBODY huh. Well I sure nobody is
prepared.

He turns and walks away.

INT. ALKEBULAN - KASIM'S LAIR - DAY

Tyrome and Kasim stand in front of a giant stone. On top is

the case of bullets that was stolen.

TYRONE
Really appreciate what you done for
me last night. I was thinking, why
stop at the Callahans?

Tyrone points to the outside.

50.

TYRONE (CONT'D)
It's gotta be endless amounts of
garbage out there just waitin' for
us.
(pause)
Trust me, being from the Big Apple,
there's enough there to last a few
years.

Kasim stares at the case. He's not thinking about Tyrone.

KASIM
Do not get this alliance confused,
when I rid Alkebulan of the humans,
you can have what is left.
Kasim walks away, not even looking at the coon.

Tyrone quickly processes Kasim's words and shrugs.

TYRONE
I'll take it. At least he's honest.

Nate the Great!
Nathan senior pauses to let the hunters approach him.

HUNTER #1 (CONT'D)
Mr. Callahan do you mind if I take
a picture with you?

Nathan senior nods.

The hunter gives his phone to the other hunter and stands
proudly next to Nathan senior.
51.

CLICK, CLICK.

HUNTER #1
Thank you very much Mr. Callahan.
You don't know what this means to
me.

THE GREAT
Sure I do. Well at least I know I'd
feel standing next to someone like
me.

Nathan senior pats the man on the back.

THE GREAT (CONT'D)

Now go on your way, and try to do
your best.

Paul shakes his head in embarrassment.

Nathan walks away with his family.

The hunter looks at the picture and erases it.

HUNTER #1
(mumbles)
What a jackass. Can't believe I
wanted a picture with that guy.

EXT. BIG DEER GAMES - TENT - DAY - CONTINUOUS

(pause)
We'd like to thank this year's

52.

The announcer looks to the front row and a group of men all
dressed in solid black gear with a silver arrow signature on
their backs.

ANNOUNCER (CONT'D)
This year we have hunters from all
over the Mid-West and the United
States.
(pause)
But I would like to bring up a
legend. A man that needs no
introduction... NATE THE GREAT
CALLAHAN! Give him a hand as he
comes.

The crowd claps and cheers as Nathan senior slowly rises.

He waves to the crowd and hobbles over to the steps. Jimbo
hurries over to assist him.

JIMBO
Come on b-b-boss. I'll help.

Nathan senior cuts his eye at him and grits his teeth.

THE GREAT
Get your measly hands off me. I
don't want your help.

Jimbo cowers back to his seat.

Nathan senior makes his way up the stairs and approaches the
podium. He waves again.

EXT. ALKEBULAN - WARRIOR'S FIELD - DAY

Kasim stands before several rows of bucks.

KASIM
Brothers, the day has finally come!
We have prepared for this since the
time of our existence.
(pause)
Year after year we have been the
prizes of mindless beast! But no
more, that ends today!
(pause)
Today they become the hunted!

The assembly of deer cheer in approval!

53.

KASIM (CONT'D)

season of humanity has ended! From
this day forward it our season...

DEER'S SEASON!

The deer shout in a thunderous applaud!

CUT TO:

EXT. BIG DEER GAMES - TENT - DAY

It's gonna take a lot more than
that.

EXT. ALKEBULAN - THE MOUND - DAY

She tilts her glasses.

MS. PEARL
Kasim! Do you have a second babe?!

Kasim shakes his head but pauses. He stares at his followers.

KASIM
Time is of the essence my brothers
of battle. Get into position. The
smell of vengeance is the air.

The soldiers pass Kasim as he walks over to Ms. Pearl.

Kasim glares at Ms. Pearl.

KASIM (CONT'D)
Could you make your speech fast. I
have task to accomplish.
54.

Ms. Pearl gently smiles.

MS. PEARL
I still remember the days of youth
watching your father showing you
how to sniff the air for fresh
berries.
(pause)
I understand that you miss him, we
all do. The Motherland lost a true
hero.

Kasim eyeballs her.

KASIM
UNDERSTAND? No you cannot possibly
understand my struggle! My life
instantly altered because of those
hillbillies! My mother was forced
to raise us alone!
(pause)
Today, they will give an account
for their sins and the sins of
their forefathers.
(pause)
So no, you cannot UNDERSTAND my
plight.

He turns to walk away --

MS. PEARL
THAT IS WHERE YOU ARE WRONG. I too
no how it feels to lose someone at
the hands of fools.
(pause)
Many moons ago I lost my husband to
the humans. He was simply used for
target practice. For years the pain
was tormented me, it was
unbearable.
(pause)
It was changing me. I had to let it
go. You must do the same before you
do something you may regret.

KASIM
Forgive me, I did not know.
(pause)
I wish there was another way.

Ms. Pearl gently strokes Kasim's leg.

55.

MS. PEARL
There's always another path. When
they go low, we go high.

Kasim creates space between them.

KASIM
Unfortunately for some, there is
only one path.

He looks back at her.

KASIM (CONT'D)
Mine is clear. I am sorry for your
loss.
Kasim sheds one tear and gallops away. He speeds pass N'kia
and Rashad.

N'KIA
Kasim!

Kasim doesn't look at them but keeps moving.

Do not worry about it. Let us go
and see what Ms. Pearl told him.

them down accurately.

The Announcer places the ribbons on the hunters shirts in

order.

The first place ribbon is placed on Paul.

THE GREAT (O.S.)

That's the way boy. Keep the
Callahan in front.
56.

Paul glances at his grandfather.

PAUL CALLAHAN

(whisper)
Paw-Paw please stop!

THE GREAT
I will do no such thing! They hate
us so bad, they willing to cheat!

Paul pulls his grandfather to the side.

PAUL CALLAHAN
I'm sorry everyone. He didn't get
that much sleep last night.

The Announcer clears his throat.

of technological genius. Our very
own scientist, Cecil has invented a
weapon that will aide us in the
destruction of our age old problem.

DEER #1 leans over and bumps another deer. He smugly looks to

Kasim and Cecil.

DEER #1
Scientist? Could've fooled me. I
thought he was a shade-tree
mechanic.

A couple of the deer snicker.

Kasim rolls his eyes at the deer. He nods to Cecil and he

pulls the sheet -- giant glistening titanium deer is
exposed!

The deer ooh and aah!

KASIM
Feast your eyes on the future! With
this, the humans will not see what
is coming.
(to Cecil)
Show them it's capabilities.

Cecil nods proudly. He touches the control panel and the

ROBOT DEER springs in motion like a nimble cat; then fades
from the vision.

DEER #1
Whoa! Where did it go?!

Cecil touches the controls again and the robot deer re-
appears behind Deer #1 -- He is alarmed and kicks it with
hind legs!
58.

DEER #1 (CONT'D)
HI-YA!

Deer #1 bounces off the robot like a pebble.

Kasim smiles at Cecil.

KASIM
Nice improvements. BROTHERS, it is
almost time! Let us take our places
and take back what is rightfully
ours!

The deer shout in affirmation!

EXT. ALKEBULAN - THE PATH - DAY

Rashad and N'kia walk side by side.

RASHAD

RASHAD
Doesn't hurt to try. Maybe I can
make him see the light.

for the crown
(pause)
Whoever brings back the biggest
deer will be the face of Black
Arrow!

Nathan senior claps loud.

59.

PAUL CALLAHAN
THAT'S YOU BOY! GET OUT THERE AND
MAKE ME PROUD!

Paul sighs and checks his gun.

JUNIOR COON
I don't have to tell you nothing. I
know my rights.

RASHAD
Why you little --

N'kia steps in foront of Rashad.

N'KIA
-- JUNIOR, how has it been. It's
been some time since I seen you in
class.

Junior's eyes glaze over. He's in love.

JUNIOR COON
OH HI N'KIA. My dad told me school
is for losers. He said life teaxhes
you all you need to know.
60.

N'KIA
But I have missed you.

JUNIOR COON
You have?!

N'KIA
Absolutely. Did you know that you
may be the smartest student in my
class.

JUNIOR COON
Really? Well, I would come back but
lunch time isn't long enough, and
garbage isn't on the menu.

N'kia glances back Rashad and winces; she nearly gags.

N'KIA
Tell you what, if you tell me where
your dad is, I'll be sure to let
Mr. Beaver know. How about that?

JUNIOR COON
YOU WILL?

N'kia nods.

JUNIOR COON (CONT'D)

Ok, Kasim told him to stay at his
place to guard the special bullets.

The two deer eyes widen!

N'KIA

ROBOT (O.S.)
You're not crazy.

The hunters raises up and the metal monstrosity materializes.

The titanium titan charges the stand and takes out one of the
legs -- it crashes to the ground.

The hunter stares at the machine in amazement. He breaks out

Jimbo nods in fear as they press forward.

INT. ALKEBULAN - KASIM'S LAIR - DAY

Rashad and N'kia snoop inside the dark gloomy cave.

N'KIA
Look at this place, we will never

RASHAD
(whisper)
Shh, hopefully we will find Tyrone.

In the distance, high on a rock they see the case of special

bullets.

RASHAD (CONT'D)
LOOK, there they are.

N'KIA
Good! Let's get them and get out of
this place.

They walk over to the ledge and look up.

N'KIA (CONT'D)
How in the world are we going to
them?

Rashad looks up in silence.

RASHAD
I GOT IT. Stand on my back.
63.

He bends down and she climbs aboard.

N'KIA
(on tippy-toes)
Just a little closer...

She snags the case!

N'KIA (CONT'D)
Got them!

A giant cage slams down over them!

N'KIA (CONT'D)
NO!
N'kia grabs the bars and peers out into the darkness. She
sees a small figure coming toward them.

Tyrone emerges from the black. He twirls a remote and

chuckles.

TYRONE
Well, well, well, what do we have
here. A couple of DEER THIEVES.
Never could've imagine this.

RASHAD
TYRONE, you have to let us out! We
have to stop Kasim.

TYRONE
Now that's be gonna a little
problem. I'm being paid very well
to make that doesn't happen.

Tyrone strolls away --

RASHAD
You can't just leave us here!
Innocent people are going to die.
TYRONE
INNOCENT? The Callahans are hardly
innocent. Come to think about it,
they're probably hunting you guys
down as we speak.

N'KIA
Paul isn't like that.

TYRONE
I wouldn't be so sure. The apple
doesn't fall from the tree.

There is a lush patch of leaves ahead of him.

HUNTER #3

never gonna win this --
(pause)
-- AHH!

The Hunter falls into a deep pit. He glances up and sees a

few deer.

In the distance Paul and Jimbo are drinking from water

bottles.

PAUL CALLAHAN
Jimbo you hear that? Sounds like it
came from over there.

EXT. THE EDGE - DAY - CONTINUOUS

Jimbo approach the edge of the hole and peep inside.

The Hunter stares up at them.

HUNTER #3
PAUL? BOY AM I GLAD TO SEE YOU! Can
you guys get me out of here?!

vines. We can make a rope.

Jimbo hurries away.

Paul looks back in the hole.

PAUL CALLAHAN (CONT'D)

You hold buddy. We're gonna get you
out of there in a jiffy!
(pause)
65.

PAUL CALLAHAN (CONT'D)

This is so weird. A big hole in the
middle of no where.

HUNTER #3
No what's really weird is when i
saw a couple of deer staring down
here when I fell in.

Paul's eyes widen.

PAUL CALLAHAN
Wait a minute, deer? Can remember
what they looked like?

The hunter frowns.

HUNTER #3
Ahh... They looked like DEER. What
kind of question is that. You know
they all look alike.

The hunter scoffs but then --

HUNTER #3 (CONT'D)
Wait a minute. One of'em was black
as coal and had fiery red eyes. I
could've swore I was seeing things
and then they were gone.

JIMBO (O.S.)
PAUL HELP!

Paul looks in the direction but sees nothing. He looks back

at the hunter.

PAUL CALLAHAN
I'll be right buddy. Hold tight.

HUNTER #3
Hurry!
Paul sprints through the woods. He sees Jimbo wrapped to a
tree. In front of him is Kasim.

PAUL CALLAHAN
You get away from him!

Kasim glares at Paul and smirks. He steps away and trots off
into the dense bush.

Paul reaches his friend and begins to untie the vines.

PAUL CALLAHAN (CONT'D)

What happened little buddy?
66.

JIMBO
I d-d-don't know. I was gathering
the vines and a black flash came
and I was t-t-tied to a tree.

Paul whips on a pocket knife and slices the vines --

suddenly, the blade reflects light.

Paul swerves around and sees the giant metal deer.

ROBOT
(grainy)
Paul Callahan.

PAUL CALLAHAN
What in the world.

The robot's eyes zeroes in on Paul. It lunges forward!

Paul breaks out fearful in a sprint.

INT. ALKEBULAN - KASIM'S LAIR - DAY

N'kia and Rashad sit against the cage.

RASHAD
I'm out of ideas.

N'KIA
Me too. We are never getting out of
here.

A few feet away, N'kia sees the ground shift.

N'KIA (CONT'D)
Hold on Rashad, did you see that?

RASHAD
Yeah I wonder --
The piece of ground collapse and Ms. Pearl hops out the hole.

The deer's are revitalized!

N'KIA
Ms. Pearl1 how did you find us?!

MS. PEARL
Hello babies. Ms. Pearl has her
ways.
(pause)
Let's get you two out of here.
67.

N'KIA
Tyrone put the controls on that
rock. Hurry before he comes --

TYRONE
-- What, come back?

Tyrone holds up the remote.

TYRONE (CONT'D)
Looking for this? I have to say,
Avie you do have a strange way of
popping up where you're not wanted.

MS. PEARL
Tyrone, I know you're not used to
our ways, but you're gonna have to
respect your elders.

Tyrone scoffs.

TYRONE
My elders? Don't make me laugh.
Listen, you're not in any position
to be telling what I can and can't
do.

MS. PEARL
Tyrone, Ms. Pearl don't have time
to argue. You can either GIVE the
remote to me or Ms. Pearl can take
it.

Tyrone erupts in laughter.

TYRONE
TAKE IT? FROM ME? YOU? I'd like to
see that one.

Tyrone doubles over in laighter.

Ms. Pearl burrows in the ground -- The ground breaks under
the feet of Tyrone. He falls through.

INT. KASIM'S LAIR - UNDERGROUND - CONTINUOUS

The only thing is seen is Tyrone's eyes.

TYRONE
Whoa! Pearl if you don't get me out
of here, you're gonna be sorry!
68.

Another set of eyes appear; small and squinty. Ms. Pearl

looks directly at Tyrone; she sees clearly in the dark.

MS. PEARL
Ms. Pearl tried to do this the nice
way but you had to be difficult.

Tyrone gulps in fear.

Ms. Pearl zips over to the coon and spins in a circle. She
takes the remote in the blurry haze.

TYRONE
WHOA!

MS. PEARL
Thank you babe.

She rockets back to her spot and Tyrone falls to the ground.

N'kia and Rashad run over to Ms. Pearl.

N'KIA (CONT'D)
Thank you so much.

RASHAD
Yeah, thanks Ms. Pearl. That was
pretty cool.

MS. PEARL
You two are welcome but you don't
have time to spare. You all better
get hose bullets to Paul.

RASHAD
That's right. Come on N'kia.

The two deer exit the room.

Ms. Pearl hobbles to the exit with her cane.

TYRONE (O.S.)
Yo Ms. Pearl!
69.

MS. PEARL
Yeah babe...?

TYRONE
Could you get me out of here? I
can't see nothing.

Ms. Pearl chuckles.

MS. PEARL
You calling your elders now babe?
Ms. Pearl gotta run, I left some
vegetables cooking.
(pause)
Kasim should be back shortly.

Ms. Pearl exits the room.

TYRONE (O.S.)
Ms. Pearl? Ms. Pearl? MS. PEARL...
(pause)
... I'm afraid of the dark.

Paul is running and swerving through the trees. He glances

back.

He's huffing and puffing.

PAUL CALLAHAN

Paul sees a huge tree. He darts behind it and peeps out.

The robot deer prances among the trees.

ROBOT
Come out. Come out, where ever you
are. You can run but you can not

shirt. A rose is pinned to his chest.
SOUTHERN PREACHER (CONT'D)
... Nathan was one of the finest
gentleman I knew. He was a generous
man. He will be missed greatly. I
could go on and on, but the family
would like to express a few words.

The preacher looks at Paul --

Paul stands in front of the assembly; he has the same outfit

on as his grandfather.
73.

The assembly looks at him but he stares at his grandfather.

PAUL CALLAHAN
Where do I begin? All ever known as
a father was my Paw-Paw. He taught
me everything I know. And I thank
him for that.
(pause)
However, there are some things I
wish he didn't teach me.

Paul looks out toward the forest. He takes in a deep breath.

PAUL CALLAHAN (CONT'D)

From this day forward Graceland
will not host another Big Deer
game.

Some of the audience gasp and some chatter.

Paul raises his hand to silence them.

PAUL CALLAHAN (CONT'D)

I know. I know. This may come as a
shock; in fact I just made the
decision this morning.
(pause)
I can't allow us to keep hunting
the helpless any longer.

Paul stares at the audience.

PAUL CALLAHAN (CONT'D)

Thank you for coming to pay your
respect.

Paul walks over to the casket, leans down kisses his

grandfather's forehead. He places the gold pendant on
Nathan's chest.

The assembly watches Paul walk up the hill to the Big House.

EXT. THE BIG HOUSE - PORCH - NEXT DAY

Paul sits on the porch watching the sun rise.

Rashad emerges from the tall wheat field and walks over to
him.

RASHAD
Good morning Paul.

Paul smiles at his friend.

74.

PAUL CALLAHAN
Good to see you buddy.

RASHAD
Sorry to hear about your
grandfather. You ok?

PAUL CALLAHAN
I'm ok. How's N'kia? I never
imagined Kasim would've done that.

RASHAD
Me either. His lover ran deeper
than we thought.

Paul sips on the coffee and takes in a breath.

PAUL CALLAHAN
If we would've ever stopped to
consider your kind, you and I
wouldn't be having this
conversation.
(pause)
I guess we needed this wake up
call.

Paul stands to his feet and stares at his friend.

PAUL CALLAHAN (CONT'D)

I made the announcement
yesterday... we will never host
another Big Deer game on this
property.

Rashad eyes widen.

RASHAD
I don't know what to say. Thank you
Paul.

PAUL CALLAHAN
No my friend, THANK YOU. Hate it
had to come to this.

Paul smiles.

PAUL CALLAHAN (CONT'D)

Gotta get ready to go shopping with
the wife... we're going vegan.

Rashad chuckles.
75.

RASHAD
There is nothing wrong with that.
See around Paul.

Paul walks up the steps and enters the house.

Rashad disappears back into the wheat field.
