images of a particular map of a place

Methodology
Introductory Activity
(__5__ minutes) The teacher begins the class by asking:
1. Have you travelled to an unfamiliar place?
2. Have you experienced being lost?
3. What should someone do if he gets lost?
4. What must one need to keep in order not to get lost?
Note: Make sure learners come up with the word MAP as an answer.

Activity
(_10___ minutes) The learners will be instructed to watch a video (Learn About Maps-
Symbols, Map Key, Compass Rose by Vids4Kids.tv) about maps. They are
to take note on the basic features and uses of maps.

Analysis
(__10__ minutes) The class will have a discussion on their written observations. This time, the
teacher shows the class a map of a particular place and gives incomplete
sentences for the students to answer using the details in the map. (See
Appendix B)

Abstraction
(__5__ minutes) Teacher will ask the essential questions: Why are maps useful? How are we
going to use maps?

Application
(__10__ minutes) The teacher will distribute activity sheets on reading a map (See Appendix
C). The learners will make use of crayons to accomplish the given activity.
The activity tests on how well students can read maps. They are given 7
minutes to accomplish it. Checking follows.

Assessment
(__10__ minutes) Another worksheet will be distributed to the students. Here, learners are
tested on how well they can follow directions. The guide should use
important points signaled by volume, projection, pitch, stress, intonation,
juncture, and rate of speech in giving the directions.
They will make use of coloring materials.(See Appendix D)

Assignment
(__5__ minutes) Learners will draw a map showing the location of their houses from the
school.

Concluding Activity
(__5__ minutes) A learner will be asked to share a specific part of the lesson which he/she
enjoyed.
