Descriptive Annex
1 NAME AND TYPE OF INSTRUMENT

This pattern of a class III or III, non-automatic weighing instrument utilises the Shering
Command 930/940 digital weight indicating device connected to a load receptor.

2 FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION

2.1 Command 930/940 digital weight indicator

2.1.1 The Command 930/940 digital weight indicator (Figures 1 and 2) is fully
described in Test Certificate Number TC6163 issued by Nederlands Meetinstituut.

2.2 Load cell

2.2.1 Any load cells may be used provided the following conditions are met:

there is a respective OIML Certificate of Conformity (R60) or a test certificate

(EN 45501) issued for the load cell by a Notified Body responsible for type
examination under Directive 90/384/EEC;

the certificate contains the load cell types and the necessary load cell data
required for the manufacturer’s declaration of compatibility of modules
(WELMEC 2, Issue 5, 2009, No. 11), and any particular installation
requirements. A load cell marked NH is allowed only if humidity testing to EN
45501 has been conducted on this load cell;

the compatibility of load cell and indicator is established by the manufacturer

by means of the compatibility of modules form, contained in the above
WELMEC 2 document, at the time of EC verification or declaration of EC
conformity of type; and

the load transmission must conform to one of the examples shown in the
WELMEC 2.4 “Guide for load cells”.

3 TECHNICAL DATA

3.1 Technical data for the indicators is provided in Test Certificate Number
TC6163.

4 PERIPHERAL DEVICES AND INTERFACES

4.1 Interfaces

4.1.1 The instrument may have the following protective interfaces:

- RS232
- RS485

2/7
4.2 Peripheral devices

The following peripheral devices may be connected to the interfaces provided:

(i) Peripheral devices that have been issued with a test certificate by a Notified
Body responsible for type approval under Directive 2009/23/EC; or

(ii) Peripheral devices without a test certificate under the following conditions:

it bears the CE marking for conformity to the EMC Directive;

it is not capable of transmitting any data or instruction into the weighing

instrument, other than to release a printout, checking for correct data
transmission or validation;

it prints weighing results and other data as received from the weighing
instrument without any modification or further processing;

it complies with the applicable requirements of EN45501, i.e. 4.2, 4.4,

4.6 and 4.7.

A printing device may print additional information such as date or number to identify the
printed weighing result(s) or sets of weighing results.

5 APPROVAL CONDITIONS

This certificate is issued subject to the following conditions:

5.1 Legends and inscriptions

5.1.1 The instrument shall bear the following legends near the display of the
weighing result:
Max
Min
e=

5.1.2 The instrument shall bear the following legends

CE mark
Green M
Accuracy class
Serial number
Manufacturer’s mark or name
Certificate number

6 LOCATION OF SEALS AND VERIFICATION MARKS

6.1 The data plates and front panel are secured against removal by sealing or will
be destroyed. The calibration counter value is recorded on a tamper evident label on the
outside of the indicator.

3/7
6.2 Components that may not be dismantled or adjusted by the user must be
secured by a suitable mark or by the use of tamper evident labels. The securing mark may
be either:
A mark of the manufacturer and/or manufacturer’s representative, or
An official mark of a verification officer.

The markings and inscriptions fulfil the requirements of Paragraph 1 of Annex IV of the
Directive 2009/23/EC.

6.3 The location of the seals is shown in Figure 3.

7 ALTERNATIVES

7.1 Having a load receptor supported by Avery 8701 load cells.

The load cell output is linearised digitally at five points on the output. When in weighing
operation mode the relevant calculation is used to linearise the digitised load cell signal to
give a linearised weight display reading.

7.2 Having a load receptor supported by a combination of Avery 8701 and Avery
T302 load cells, in which case the maximum capacity is between and including 25000 kg and
50000 kg and having not more than 2500 digital scale intervals. The load cells fitted to a
system shall have the same rated capacity. The rated capacity shall be either 50,000 lb or
100,000 lb depending upon the maximum capacity of the instrument.

7.3 Having a load receptor supported by either 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12 Revere C92 type

load cells, each load cell having a rated capacity of 50,000 lb or 100,000 lb. The maximum
capacity is between 15,000 kg and 150,000 kg with not more than 4000 digital scale
intervals.

7.4 Having a surface mounted weighbridge platform connected to steel sub-

frames bolted to a flat concrete base such that the weighbridge is transportable. Concrete or
steel ramps are used to enable vehicles to drive up on to the weighbridge platform. The
platform shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications.

7.5 Having a load receptor supported by up to 12 Revere B5223 type load cells,
each load cell having a rated capacity of 50,000 lb or 65,000 lb. The load cell shall be chosen
such that the maximum capacity represents at least 25 % of the total load cell rating, with not
more than 3000 digital scale intervals.

7.6 Having a load receptor supported by up to 6 Toledo Capcheck type load cells,
each load cell having a rated capacity of 100,000 lb, or supported by up to 8 Toledo
Capcheck type load cells, each load cell having a rated capacity of 50,000 lb. The load cell
shall be chosen such that the maximum capacity represents at least 25 % of the total load
cell rating, with not more than 3000 digital scale intervals. The operating temperature range
shall be limited to 0 °C to + 30 °C which shall be included in the descriptive markings.
