Strand
Key Attributes
The unique random twirls of fibre construction and texturised
surface finish sets Strand apart in choice of acoustical walls
and ceilings. A natural ‘breathing’ panel with the timeless
appeal of fibres sharply contrasts with the smooth surfaces
of gypsum ceilings, glazing or drywalls and stone floorings.
Strand Variants
Strand is woodwool board, manufactured for the first time in
India by Anutone (since 1966) and comes in four variants:
Strand Colors - top-of-the-line finish for premium
spaces with fine filament woodfibre
0.6~0.8mm width, factory-painted with
primer and finish coat, carton packed
ready to use.
Strand Primer - the original classic from Anutone since
1966 with 1.0~1.2mm width with factory-
painted primer and carton packed for
further finishing insitu by installers
Strand Ebony - same as Strand but core-pigmented
black and with matte black coating on
face for both sound and light absorption
used in studios, cinemas and where
dark plenum is preferred. Carton
packed ready to use
Strand SS - budget panel with 2.0mm width woodfibre
used as backer board for Stretch and
Slim-on-Strand applications without
primer painting or carton packing (beware
of Strand SS passed off as above
variants)
Aesthetics
Strand boasts of textured surface and edge treatment,
important for installed aesthetics.
Grid ceilings - Square, Reverse Steppe, Steppe, Steppe
Chamfer. Anutone recommends Square or Steppe edge in
Skelet T24.
Non-grid ceilings - Square Fine Bevel (Square edge butt joint
never recommended by Anutone).
Panelling - Radius, Chamfer, Square Fine Bevel - all in kerfed
or H-Spline groove - and Tongue-Groove. Anutone strongly
recommends kerfed edge for fastener-less H-Spline
installation
Typical Applications
Strand continues to used extensively in building interiors
since wood wool boards were first introduced in Europe in
the early 20th century. The timeless, classic appeal of wood
wool boards across the world from America to Asia is its
greatest strength.
Strand is used for acoustical ceilings and panelling in offices,
schools, hotels, restaurants, cinema, auditoriums, studios etc.

Design Considerations
Strand Square edge must never be butt jointed. Chamfer long
edges with staggered short edges work the best. Options
include panels with Square or Chamfer edge, staggered and
separated by a 4-6 mm gap to create default grooves. Strand
must not be installed at pedestrian height unless the surface
is covered with a finishing materials such as Spun fabrics
system.
Accessibility
Strand in Skelet T24 makes it modular and dismantable for
plenum access to services in the ceiling void. Strand installed
on H-Spline also makes it easy to access ceiling|wall void.
Environmental Impact
Strand is eco-friendly and wins 15 LEED points, a green
initiative by Anutone. Strand is manufactured with natural
materials like pinewood and magnesia cement. It is an
exothermic reaction and air curing with no autoclaving
necessary.

Triple Matrix
Strand >20mm onwards come with Anutone’s latest Triple-
Matrix technology. Triple-Matrix is a research-engineered
pioneering innovation from Anutone that is the most
efficient|optimal utilisation of resources.
The panel is a sandwich construction with base of wide fibre
base, microfibre middle and surface consists of finishing
fibre. This excludes Strand Duo for obvious reasons.
This results in:
• enhanced aesthetics - fibre preservation
• greater strength - wide fibre base support
• better acoustics - variable sound absorption
• cost-savings - why pay for full panel fine fibre

Strand Colours

Installation Guidelines
Ceiling (E300 mounting) – Scope - Supply & apply Strand, as per approved drawings and specifications, manufactured by
Anutone Acoustics Limited, an ISO 9001 2008 and ISO 14001 2004 and OHSAS 18001 company. Framework - Skelet U15-
System, consisting of Main and Cross Tees interlocked at 600 mm centres to create a 600x1200mm grid. Acoustical panels
- Size 595x1195 mm; Thickness 25 mm; Edge profile - Steppe.
Panelling (C10 mounting) – Scope - Supply & apply Strand, as per approved drawings and specifications, manufactured by
Anutone Acoustics Limited, an ISO 9001 2000 and ISO 14001 2004 and OHSAS 18001 company. Framework - Strut channnels,
consisting of CC10 Channels fixed at 600mm centres. Acoustical infill - SynthPF 10x10 friction-fitted between the Strut
channels. Acoustical panels - Size 600x1200mm; Edge detail - Long edges chamfer and kerfed for H-Spline; Thickness 38
mm installed on Strut channels with H-Spline. Joints and finish - Chamfer long edges, staggered short edges, butt-joined.
Caution! No Seam or plaster is applied between the joints.
