6.3 Assignment: Final Paper—Phase 3 of Final Project

Apple Inc. is a company that specializes in computers, software, and electronics that

revolutionize how people use technology. The ichibanki devices were made in order to

modernize life by integrating the Internet and simple yet powerful computing into one device.

Apple continues to be a leader in innovation with the introduction of their latest products, such as

iPhone 6 and Apple Watch. One of the many reasons why Apple is becoming so popular today is

because they offer amazing customer service for their products. All customer support is handled

by Apple through their own website (Apple Computer, Inc, 2021). For example, if you are

having an issue with one of your products, such as a broken iPhone, there is a way to contact

Apple directly with only one phone call. Everything that is needed for support can be called from

any website or computer connected to the Internet and all product information can be found

through the Apple website (Apple Computer, Inc, 2021).

Apple Inc. has an abundance of products to choose from and they help customers find the

right product for them. Each product is developed in a way that makes it easy to use and they

have in-depth information for customers as well as customer support through their Apple

website. The website will tell you everything you need to know about the product, including the

cool features and any troubleshooting steps. A great example of a great Apple product is the

iPhone 6. The iPhone 6 is one of the most professional and useful devices that a customer can

buy. It has many features such as a touch screen, camera, GPS, and much more. The iPhone 6

also has some cool apps that make using the device more efficient. There is something for

everybody and every need with Apple products so it is hard to not find the perfect product for

you (Apple Computer, Inc, 2021).

3

The Apple website has become very popular in recent years because it offers so many

great products at an affordable price. Most people use their products in order to be able to

explore the different possibilities technology brings to a person's life. Some people might not like

the way Apple products work and they might say that others products are better because of the

features that other companies offer. Apple concentrates on great customer service and innovative

product development and they have been able to create a reliable company that many customers

rely on for their computing needs.

Privacy Issues Of Customers:

Apple Inc. has been the company of choice for tech-savvy consumers for decades.

However, Apple's attitude towards user privacy may be changing as it moves to cater to

emerging markets with lower privacy standards and a more cash-strapped customer base that

cannot afford to pay the cost of data encryption. That said, Apple's recent trend of enforcing

stricter security measures may prove beneficial in ensuring their customer satisfaction rate

remains high and their name continues to dominate the industry (Apple Computer, Inc, 2021).

Apple's main product offerings are the iPhone, iPod, and MacBook. All three products

are known for their superior-quality user experience, but to know more about Apple Inc.'s

business structure and history, let's first discuss some key elements of their two operating

systems: the iOS and Mac OS X (Apple Computer, Inc, 2021).

The iPhone [IS] for Sale. The iPhone contains a sophisticated system called iOS which is

Apple's proprietary operating system that runs on its handheld devices. In fact, Apple has spent

over $40 million to secure their proprietary system from being pirated (Apple Computer Inc,

2022).
4

Apple takes measures to ensure that its iOS operating system is secure. One of the few

ways for an unauthorized user to access iPhone data is via jailbreaking of the phone's operating

system which is a process that requires a brute-force-like strategy where one follows a set of

steps in order to bypass security features and gain access to underlying software.

Apple has gone above and beyond in terms of ensuring the security of their system. They

have locked down the device to prevent any third party from accessing the iPhone's files, photos,

and applications. Cross-platform access is also controlled which means that iPhone apps cannot

be accessed on iOS operating system destined for other devices or operating systems.

The Mac OS X [IS] for Sale.

Protection Of Intellectual Property:

Protection Of Intellectual Property in Apple Inc is a standalone section which is related to

intellectual Property Rights. In my opinion, the protection of intellectual property is a very

crucial step in protecting your company. Intellectual property law defines who owns artistic and

non-artistic creations of the mind by law, this includes inventions like patents or products like

copyrights or trademarks (Machajewski, 2022). It will ensure that your business will be protected

with legal rights as it establishes rules and regulations on how to protect these types of creative
5

work from being stolen or exploited without permission by others. I would like to explain in this

article about protection of intellectual property in Apple Inc (Machajewski, 2022).

As for the protection of intellectual property, it should be noted that there are a few things to bear

in mind. First, most measures regarding such rights are meant to protect trademarks, patents and

copyrights from being used without the parties' permission. Secondly, changes in these laws may

occur regularly and are subject to change at any time without prior notice. Thirdly, one of the

main purposes of intellectual property protection is to establish the respect for one's own work

and give the owner a share in this earnings (Machajewski, 2022).

It is important to note that before any intellectual property is created, there are some steps

that must be taken to make sure that it will be protected. First, new intellectual property should

be registered with the relevant authorities before anything is done with it. This registration

process will ensure that others cannot copy or use your work without your permission. It is also

important to note that, if you are going to use a new intellectual property in your company, you

may also need to register It (Machajewski, 2022).

There are a few main ways in which intellectual property laws protect your company. For

instance, for trademarks and patents, the owners of these rights may take legal action against

those who infringe on their property. In other words, if your trademark or patent is being used in

a way that is not allowed, you may be able to take legal action against the infringer. If you are

using a trademark registered with the government and someone else tries to use it, you can seek

financial compensation for this trademark infringement. There are also some laws protecting

copyrights of software (Machajewski, 2022).

Cyberlaws That Will Apply To Your Organization

In 2014, Apple Inc. Introduced Cyberlaw policies that govern how iCloud data is stored

and shared. Apple's Cyberlaw might be most famous for its restrictions on users' ability to

transfer their iCloud data to other services, but it also addresses a wide range of topics. For

example, the company tweaked its privacy policy in order to let third-party developers share user

data with select companies who are conducting research studies. "We don't . share your

information with companies, organizations or individuals outside of Apple except in the

following circumstances" (Apple Inc.). E-commerce, advertisement and service providers can

obtain access to data if it is needed to facilitate transactions (Machajewski, 2022).

Apple's Cyberlaw also addresses how users' information can be used to create

personalized advertising profiles. The company states that it will use the data it has collected

about its users "to select and personalize ads, offers and other content" (Apple Inc.). In addition,

the Cyberlaw states that user information is used to provide "customized products and services,

such as app recommendations" (Apple Inc.), but does not give specifics as to what users can

expect from these customized products (Machajewski, 2022).

7

The company's Cyberlaw also addresses how apps should handle notifications and other

features that are triggered by the user's location. For example, a third-party app on an iOS device

could be triggered by the user's location within 5 km of a store using "geo-fencing. This allows

app developers to create location-based experiences that are customized by the current location

of the device" (Apple Inc.) (Machajewski, 2022).

Gmail users can be alerted via email when someone they have been emailing with has

sent them a message. However, this is not done by default and users must change their 'Now

Playing' setting to "on" in order to have email notifications triggered. The app also must be

updated in order for the feature to work (Machajewski, 2022).

Executive Summary/Introduction:

Apple Inc. is a multinational technology company headquartered in

Cupertino, California, that designs, develops, and sells consumer electronics and computer

software. The corporation was founded on April 1, 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and

newly introduced Lightning connector. On September 9, 2014 Apple announced the launch of

iPhone 6 with 4.7-inch (116 mm) and 5 (Machajewski, 2022).

Sections That Address Each Of The Concerns:

How the plan will be implemented:

Apple is dedicated to transparency in its supply chain and has been working on this

plan with our suppliers since 2014. This audit includes access to Apple's most sensitive

manufacturing records, and we have shared all of these records with the EIC for them to review.

As the EIC audit is ongoing, we are sharing more details than we typically would. Apple takes

working conditions in our supply chain very seriously. We lead the industry with far-reaching

and robust initiatives to positive change, such as (Machajewski, 2022):

We are leveraging automation to improve safety and working conditions while

reducing manual labor in our manufacturing processes. We continue to develop and deploy

innovative new technologies to improve worker safety, including scheduling technologies to help

prevent overwork, and robotics for fine motor skills like placing stickers (Mcclure, 2019).

2. How the plan will be implemented by some of Apple's suppliers:

At a few select factories that manufacture our products in China, all workers will be

provided with Apple-provided safe transportation to and from work. Workers can also benefit

from perks like subsidized meals, use of the company gym, and bike maintenance and repair. In

total, more than 6,000 workers will receive these benefits over the next year.

3. What are the results of this audit?

10

In our first year, we audited over one million workers at 27 facilities. In total, 94

percent were found to be in compliance with all applicable wage and hour laws. In the remaining

6 percent of facilities where violations were found, they were corrected within 90 days on

average. In addition, we've reached an agreement with the International Labor Rights Fund

(ILRF), a leading non-profit organization dedicated to improving labor conditions in factories

around the world, to conduct a separate audit next year of Apple's suppliers in China that were

NOT audited this year. This agreement covers all suppliers with manufacturing facilities in

China that make iPads, iPhone and other Apple products. We look forward to working together

on these audits and will provide more details as they are made public (Mcclure, 2019).

4. What's being done to ensure that Apple's suppliers continue to provide safe and fair

working conditions?

Apple has been working closely with its suppliers since 2014 to improve conditions in

the more than one million factories that manufacture our products. Earlier this year, we

announced changes in our global supply chain designed to eliminate unfair labor practices by

some of those factories. We've also created a database of all facilities where Apple products are

made, which we make available via the website www.aboutapplecateringtosafety (Mcclure,

2019).

The Current Status Of Each Issue And Concern, What Caused It, Who Is Currently

Addressing Them, And What Action Has Been Taken To Date?

Apple Inc. is creating an easy way for users to access information on the current status

of each concern and what caused it, who is currently addressing them, and what action has been

taken to date. This new service replaces the Apple Knowledge Base which was originally created

in 1997 but recently retired in July of 2017 (Mcclure, 2019). This was the decision Apple made
11

after 22 years of maintaining the KB and with their announcement of what they are replacing it

with (Mcclure, 2019).

Users are able to access this new service through an updated My Support Profile

which can be found on their Apple Remote Desktop Essentials page. Here users can access

support articles that pertain to them including those specific to their device, software or operating

system. They will also be able to access current active issues and whether they have been

resolved or not, which will be updated on a frequent basis. The service will not only offer users

access to information on current issues, but it will also allow them to ge1t a glimpse of what

other users have said when reporting issues in the past. This may give people a better idea of

whether their issue is minor or major and if there is a good chance that they will be able to

resolve it themselves.

Apple created this new support solution to streamline the process for reaching out for

help on various concerns that they are currently experiencing. They hope that this will offer a

much simpler and easier method for their customers to access help and information when they

need it the most.

This new service is Apple's bid to combat the increased amount of issues that users are

having with their hardware or software, whether it be a minor or major issue. With the number of

issues that are currently being reported, it is evident that users have had enough of being ignored

or not receiving the proper feedback when reporting their concerns. While this new service does

not replace Apple support entirely, it will still provide users with the help that they need when

they need it most.

12

The Current Status Of Each Issue And Concern, What Caused It, Who Is Currently

Addressing Them, And What Action Has Been Taken To Date in Apple Inc. was last modified:

by This article is about issues at Apple Inc. Not for service status or Apple device issues.

It has been proposed by the writer of this article that a new service similar to Apple

Inc.'s new support solution be created (Scott, 2021). This will allow users to quickly and easily

log their concerns and issues in an easy to follow format, where they can then be verified by a

third party agent. This log will then be made available for other users who are experiencing

similar issues or have already had their issue resolved, allowing them to learn from the

experience of others (Scott, 2021).

Resources used to develop the plan?

On January 1976, Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs founded Apple. They followed the

vision of creating a personal computer that would be affordable to the masses. Today, Apple is

one of the two most valuable technology companies in the world along with Microsoft

Corporation. Since its inception, Apple has developed many different products including several
13

successful handheld electronic devices by means of introduction into new market segments or

discontinuation of their less popular products.

This case study focuses on the development of the Apple II line of computers as an

example of how a company can develop products for various new market segments by

introducing new product lines, price reductions, etc. It will also discuss some of the strategy

employed to develop these products and why it was important to not abandon their main

computer line to do these other product lines (Scott, 2021).

There are several different components that go into creating a successful and

competitive company. In the case of Apple Inc. (Apple), they have been successful at changing

from an incredibly successful and profitable company to a highly competitive one by quickly

incorporating more than 1,000 new product introductions (Scott, 2021).

In 1977, Apple introduced their first product entitled the Apple I. It was the first

commercially available home computer in history. The Apple I was primarily designed for

educational purposes (banking, scheduling, research), however it can be used for almost

anything. It costed $666.66. The Apple I came in two colors, silver or gray; a price of $666.66

was included in the box, so there was no need to pay more for a color option (Scott, 2021).

The production of the Apple I was not nearly as successful as the company expected it

to be and they did not have enough to sell; therefore, they were forced to recall the product on

December 31, 1977. Also, due to the lack of success, the Apple I was never officially sold in the

UK market (Scott, 2021).

Apple continued to develop new products making it easier to use home computers. In

1978, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak decided to develop a completely new computer using a
14

microprocessor in order to hold more programs and other functions like a calculator, which had

been seen in other computers at this time. They named this computer the Apple II.

Potential Problems With The Plan That May Occur In The Future?

Apple is a well-known and loved company. The mission of Apple Inc. is "to bring the

best personal computing experience to students, educators, creative professionals and consumers

in over 155 countries." With such a clear goal, it's hard to believe that there could be a problem

with this company's future. Nonetheless, we are looking at potential problems with Apple's

future that may occur in the coming years or decades (Scott, 2021).

Apple is facing a problem that many companies face. They need to change their company

logo. This is not a hardship because it would be good for the company and benefit its business.

Apple's logo is not a pretty or creative logo. It is just a basic apple shape with some lines in it,

but it does not look like an apple at all, and has been mocked as an oak leaf or broccoli floret.

This is not a good logo to use as a company name. A new apple logo would be much better for

Apple because it would appeal to people more, look better, and also be easier understood.
15

As for the business, Apple would do well with a new logo (Scott, 2021). If they were to

change their logo, it could greatly increase their quality of their products and possibly keep them

on the market longer. Due to this benefit of changing their logo, there is no reason why Apple

Inc. should not change their logo.

Apple is another company that needs to change the way they do business because of the

fact that they are struggling. Apple is a company that has been around since 1976, and in 2011,

they only had revenues of $108,827 million. This is very low for a company with such prestige

as Apple. Many people may say that this is because their products are overpriced, but their

products have a tendency to get cheaper while losing no quality (Scott, 2021).

Conclusion

Apple Inc. has been on the market for nearly 30 years, and it has made a lot of money

in that time. The company is always evolving to keep up with new trends and technology, and

the recent release of the iPhone X shows how they continue to assert their dominance in

electronics. Apple is changing the way people view computers and has managed to do this while

staying one step ahead of competitors like Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. and Microsoft

Corporation . Apple has grown and expanded to new markets, and they will continue to be a

household name for years to come.

Apple was formed in the late 1970s when Steve Jobs , Steve Wozniak, and Ronald

Wayne built the Apple I computer in their garage. The company grew from there, releasing

updated versions of the original model with more features as time went on. In the late 1980s,

Apple released the Macintosh computer and other personal computers as part of a partnership

with IBM, which was looking to get back into the personal computer business. Later, Apple
16

would release the iMac and iPod. In 2010, Apple was bought by the private equity firm, The

Walt Disney Company . As of 2015, Apple is one of the most valuable companies in the world.

Apple has a great deal of competition from other technology companies like Samsung

and Microsoft, but Apple is always a step ahead of its competitors. Apple regularly releases new

technology that changes the way people view computers, and they keep innovating to remain

ahead of the curve. The iPhone, released in 2007, was a massive hit for Apple and changed the

way people viewed phones and mobile technology. Since then they have released the iPod touch,

iPad, and Apple Watch. The iPhone 6 is said to be a face-stealing phone with an innovative bar-

code scanner on the front of it (Scott, 2021).
