PERIOD OF ACTIVITY 1WEEK

I TITLE I AIRCONDITIONING SYSTEM (C02,P08)

1.1 Introduction

Air conditioning units are used to remove heat from the building so that we
can maintain a cool and comfortable internal environment. Heat flows into
a building through walls, roofs and windows by conduction and radiation.
People, equipment and appliances inside the building also generate heat.
Accumulation of heat will raise the air temperature inside the building.

1.2 Objective
The objective of the test is:

Student will run the air conditioning unit system and part of this system
and identified the system operation including part involve.

PREAMBLE
1.3 Learning Outcomes
At the end of the laboratory activities, students would be able to:
i. Explain the operation of air conditioning system
iii. Know how to used psychometric chart and the
application of air conditioning system through
heat transfer

1.4 Theoretical Background

Theoretical Background shall be referred to introductions and lecture
notes

4) Expansion valve
5) Evaporator
How this system does operates.

3.1 Apparatus

1. Air conditioning demonstration unit

3.2 Procedures

i. Prepare the air conditioning system unit and

follow instruction from instructor
WAYS&MEANS

3.3 Data Acquisition

Dry bulb temperature, wet bulb temperature and Ammeter at

the air-con demonstration unit.

4 Results, Analysis and Conclusion

The group is required to submit the technical report of the laboratory
results.

The report must incorporate the followings:

i. Discuss the result of time taken during the experiment.
RESULTS ii. Sketch the air conditioning unit system and name each
of their component
ii. Plot the trendline in the psyrometric chart and state the
process and the value (specific enthalply and moisture
content and etc.
iii. Calculate the air flow (mmhg) in the air-conditioning system by
using psychometric chart
iv. Calculate the efficiency of the boiler (pre-heating) used in this air-
con demonstration unit
The report must be submitted 7 days after the completion of the test.
