Haemorrhage remains a leading cause of death in potentially survivable
casualties in both civilian and military trauma patients. Technological
advancements have transformed urban landscapes which in turn
revolutionized the combat tactics being deployed. This inadvertently
led to complex types of wounds which complicated the severity
associated with wound grades.
Thus, the quality of pre-hospital wound care of patient after an injury
becomes critical in determining the survival rate of injured patients. To
deal with this challenge, considerable improvements in the haemostatic
dressings have been introduced and pre-hospital care has been
upgraded in many civilian and tactical combat casualty care guidelines
and emergency response protocols.

How It Works
IATRICOXtm Dressing pads and other Chitosan Haemostatic wound care products
work on the bioactivate mechanism of mucoadhesion. The positively charged
haemostats have a static interaction with the negative charge of the red blood
cells and platelets which forms a mechanical barrier to the bleeding site.
