8(a) A woman spent of her monthly income on food, on open market and of the

9. Two ships leave a harbour Q at the same time, one sails at a speed of 5 kmh−1 on a bearing
of 049 ° , the other sails at a speed of 9 kmh −1 on a bearing of 319 °. The two ships shop at
point X and Y ,respectively, on the sea, after 2hours.
(a) Draw a diagram to show the bearing of X and Y from Q

(c) If the ship at X changes its course and sails for 4 hours to reach Y , calculate , correct to

11. The force of attraction, F, between two bodies varies directly as the product of their
masses, m1∧m2 and inversely as the square of the distance, d, between them. Given that F =

(i) an expression F in terms of m 1 ,m 2 and d;


(ii) the distance, d when F = 30 N m 1=7.5 kg∧m2=4 kg .
