Competency based question

1. In the death of The Tiger King, we see the tragedy of a king who tries only to further his self
interest. The adage, ‘one cannot change what is written in one’s destiny’ is reinforced.
Comment.

Ans. The tiger King known as Champion of Champions, warrior of warriors, hero of heroes.But he let
himself be ruled by the prediction of an astrologer that his death will come from the hundredth
tiger. He vowed to attend to all other matters only after killing the hundredth tiger and banned tiger
hunting in his kingdom by anyone except himself .In order to succeed in his mission he neglected his
kingdom, did not listen to the sane advice of his minister and excercised absolute authority and
usurp his power. Everyone in his kingdom was afraid of him. They fear to earn his wrath. But none
had had respect for the king. Therefore, the hunters did not inform that the hundredth tiger was not
dead. They simply killed him off for fear of losing their jobs. The shopkeeper too lied about the
wooden tiger of fear of being punished under the rules of the Emergency. All these proved to be
costly for the king.Thus, he got killed by a mere wooden tiger.
