Feminism and gender equality from “Rehana

mariyam Noor”
About Movie: Md. Zahid Hasan (193-10-2129) Rehana Maryam Noor is a 2021 Bangladeshi
film and first entered the Cannes Film Festival. The film is directed by Abdullah
Mohammad Saad and produced by Jeremy Chua. Acted by Azmeri Haque Badhon
as Rehana moriyam noor. This film is a perfect example of true feminism and
gender equality. The director does those things perfectly in this movie. We all
know the main theme of feminism and that is that feminism is about all genders
having equal rights and opportunities. The character Rehana in this movie shows
us how a woman should exercise her rights and what a feminist should be. Not
only feminism but also shows how a woman has to fight against all the problems of
this society. Here are some discussions that would give Rehana's proper
description of feminism and gender equality.

Working woman and Independent mother: Abdun Nur Aayon (193-

10-2150) In this movie, we can see Rehana as a working woman who is a teacher in a
private medical college. She is a very strict teacher and never supports any wrong
things in the exam hall or in study. She is a very responsible and hard working
woman. Besides that she is a single mother also. She takes care of her child
properly and is also very sincere about her child. She not always gives her child
love, but also gives her proper education and etiquette if that child does any wrong
things. In the movie we can see that Rehana gives a punishment to her girl because
she did a wrong thing and Rehana doesn’t support any wrong things. These two
thing working woman and as well as independent and caring mother shows a
lovely portrait of a perfect feminism.

Defendant attitude about Equal rights and Fight for

Justice: Rezaul Hait Showrov (193-10-2144) A perfect feminist always aware of their equal
rights and always fight for the proper and legal justice. In the rehana moriyam noor
movie, we also see Rehana do that. She has saw a sexual harassment of a girl by
that private medical collage’s professor and she stand against that professor for
justice. Though that girl doesn’t want to do anything but Rehana wanted to punish
that professor and that shows her courage and attitude as a feminist. In a particular
scene in this movie, Rehana’s daughter has to say sorry to a boy because she bit
him. But Rehana doesn’t support saying sorry because that boy hit her daughter
first. Because of the girl, she has to apologize and that boy doesn’t accept his fault.
So Rehana doesn’t agree with that and she doesn’t give her daughter permission to
say sorry. There is also a portion where a male character saying that Football is
Boys game, not a girls game. This shows that how there are male and female
discrimination in our society. But beside all this Rehana stands against them and
Shows us how should be a perfect feminist.

Conclusion: Navid Haider Khan (193-10-2122) Rehana Maryam Noor is not only a
feminist film but also a film that promotes gender equality. The film portrays
Rehana’s quest for justice and also the rights of Gender equality. She represents
women of our society and has become a strong symbol of women emancipation. In
this film, the director gives so many issues and things which our female faces
every day. And by Rehana character director give us a portrait that how should a
feminism should work. All the characteristics of Rehana is shown in this move is
perfect definition of feminism and gender equality.
