What was the setting of your observation?

It looks to be Norm MacDonald's apartment that he spruced up for Faith Ford’s
character.

What type of relationship do you believe these individuals have?

I believe the type of relationship Faith Ford and Norm Macdonald have is a
romantic relationship. It looks more like they are dating rather than married.

Was this a positive or negative interaction? Why

It looked like a negative reaction based on the facial expressions they smiled at
first but as the conversation went on, they started to get sad.

What are some things that stood out to you?

Something that stood out to me is how much sadder Norm Macdonald’s
character looks. I assume they are breaking up in this scene, but Faith Ford does
not look as heartbroken, so she is the one who breaks it off.

What specific forms of non-verbal communication were observed and

provide some specific examples?

Specific forms of non-verbal communication I observed were facial expressions

and hand gestures. I mostly noticed the face of the characters shift from a happy
demeanor to a sullen look. They both use hand gestures to convey how they felt.

What would you suggest to the participants that you observed to

change in the future in terms of their nonverbal communications or
behavior? If you have no suggestions, explain why you feel no changes
are needed.
I don’t have any suggestions, I understood everything that was going on just
through their non-verbal communication. Their facial expressions convey what
emotions they’re feeling, and their body language adds to that too.

What lessons can you apply in your own non-verbal communication in

the future?
I don’t exactly know what I can apply to my own non-verbal communication as I
have never seen my own body language or facial expressions. I think I pretty much
do everything like a normal person and how Faith Ford and Norm Macdonald did
it in this scene, but I don’t actually know.

Which of the non-verbal behaviors displayed did you connect with the
most? Why?
I connected with the little nod Norm Macdonald did and his face in that moment
just conveys a lot of feelings I’ve had before. I’ve never been broken up with so I
don’t exactly know what he’s going through but I feel like I’ve received bad news
and I just nodded accepting it because that’s all I could really do.
