General Instructions:

(1) There are 35 questions in all. All questions are compulsory

(2) This question paper has five sections: Section A, Section B, Section C, Section D and

Section E. All the sections are compulsory.

(3) Section A contains eighteen MCQ of 1 mark each, Section B contains seven questions

of two marks each, Section C contains five questions of three marks each, section D

contains three long questions of five marks each and Section E contains two case study

based questions of 4 marks each.

(4) There is no overall choice. However, an internal choice has been provided in section

B, C, D and E. You have to attempt only one of the choices in such questions.

energy. Gravitational force field, electrostatic force field and spring force fields

are some examples of conservative forces in which the sum of PE and KE

remains constant if no energy is otherwise drained or supplied.

( i) Write the expression for restoring force in case of a stretched spring.

(ii) How one can assure that the spring force is conservative force in nature.

(iii ) Draw the graph of variation of PE and KE of oscillating spring with respect

to displacement.

What is the effect of spring constant on maximum energy stored in the spring

system? If spring of value 2k replaces the initial spring of spring constant k,

calculate the maximum KE during oscillation of same amplitude.

Inertia is measured with the help of mass of a body. It is incapability of a body to

change its state of rest or motion by itself. This is why many precautions are

taken to cope up with adverse effects of inertia. In designing of a vehicle inertia

plays an important role to decide width of tire, length of vehicle, tensile strength

of various part of vehicle.

( i )Anti-lock breaking system (ABS ) becomes a must safety feature in cars. why
