INTRODUCTION

The World Health Organization (WHO) discovered cases of pneumonia of unknown

cause in Wuhan, China, on December 31, 2019, and dubbed it "2019-nCov," or novel

coronavirus, for the time being. This pandemic greatly affects the global economy and health.

Thus, there were shortages of medical masks and alcohols, supply-side manufacturing issues,

delayed production of goods, and reaching full bed capacity in almost all hospitals. Moreover,

many establishments had foreclosed and filed for bankruptcy. The number of unemployed had

increased due to the limited manpower requirements in each establishment. However, to recover

from the monetary loss, many establishments implemented the IATF guidelines. The economy is

considered to be at risk due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) 2020 MSME Statistics shows that 99.5% of

all business are MSMEs. Majority of this MSMEs are from National Capital Region with 21.10%

business establishments. The top five (5) industry sectors in 2020 were: (1) wholesale and retail

trade; repair of motorcycles; (2) Accommodation and Food Service Activities; (3) Manufacturing;

(4) Other service activities and; (5) Financial and Insurance Activities. 25% of the nation's total

export earnings comes from MSMEs. Additionally, it is believed that 60 percent of all exporters

in the nation fall under the MSME group. MSMEs can contribute to exports by entering into

subcontracting agreements with big businesses or by serving as suppliers to exporting businesses.

Since entrepreneurs are by nature innovative, creative, and risk-takers, starting a firm

during or right after a pandemic doesn't scare many people off.

PANDEMIC BUSINESSES

1. Water Refiling Station – (Small Business)

Water consumption is one of our fundamental

needs. We all require access to clean drinking

water that will slake our thirst and replenish our

bodily fluids. But not all drinking water is

created equal. Since tap water contains many

unfiltered chemicals and minerals, it is not

entirely safe to drink. Meanwhile, the cost of

bottled water makes it unaffordable for regular

use.

One of the easiest methods to have a steady source of income is to open a water refilling

business in your neighborhood. The need for water remains constant even during a pandemic.

In fact, because everyone is at home, demand has increased.

Putting up of Water Refilling station was made easy because of the availability of Franchises

that help owners to establish their businesses. Moreover during the pandemic water is a

necessity that increases sale.

2. Rice Business (Small Business)

A staple cuisine in the Philippines is rice. We are an agricultural nation after all, and

everyone simply adores rice. The market for rice is stable and expanding even during a

pandemic. You have regular shoppers and businesses who order large quantities of food from

your store. To sell rice, you won't even need marketing.

You must first obtain an NFA license before launching a rice business. Additionally, you

must have the right tools and storage for rice. Pests will completely destroy your rice if it is

not stored properly. The most crucial thing is to remember to register your company with the

DTI.

Grain Smart is the biggest, sturdiest, and most dependable

retailer, distributor, and franchisor of special rice grains in the

Philippines. It was conceptualized following years of

systematic preparation on how to become "The" rice retail

chain-store the neighborhood can genuinely rely on. We have created a strategy that is

effective and guarantees not just a rich or profitable business but also a rewarding one in only

three short years.

3. Delivery or “Pasabuy” business (Small business)

Delivery services are crucial in a pandemic. People prefer to have items purchased outside of

their houses and delivered there because to the fear of COVID-19. Delivery and "pasabuy"

firms prospered as a result. If you drive a car, you can start a delivery business by providing

distinctive goods that aren't available on Grab, Shopee, and Lazada.

Never forget that you are not limited to delivering food. Even more, certain "pasabuy" firms

handle the delivery of expensive goods like laptops, phones, bikes, etc.

Make careful to adhere to health and safety regulations when delivering. Your health

continues to come first.

Many establish pasabuy business during pandemic. Small business owners such as retail

orders added delivery on their business for th em to gain more sales. This concept were

accepted and led to buyers patronage.

their homes. The requirement of customers who would rather have someone buy for them

and deliver it to their doorstep so they won't have to leave their houses, especially in the

middle of a pandemic, is met by delivery or a "pasabuy" service. Delivery businesses,

properly. The next step is to set up simple payment and delivery alternatives for your
clients. Also have a look at significant e-commerce sites like Shopee and Lazada. Here, you

money. You can launch an e-loading service even as a student.
