Preventing Workplace Discrimination and Violence

Jayceron L. Monteagudo, MSCJ

April 10, 2023

REFLECTION

Preventing Workplace Discrimination, Violence, and Sexual Harassment is the topic of the first

seminar. The seminar taught me that physical violence, harassment, or intimidation can occur in

and around the workplace. I also learned about the various types of workplace violence.

According to our seminar, a person who does anything awful to a coworker may face disciplinary

proceedings, legal charges, termination, or, in the worst-case scenario, imprisonment. I also

learned that there are responses you can take if you find yourself in this circumstance.

Furthermore, workplace discrimination is defined as treating employees unfairly or differently

depending on their ethnicity, gender, age, religion, or disability. There are also four categories of

workplace discrimination. The first is discrimination based on influence, followed by based on

gender or sexual orientation, discrimination based on physical orientation, and finally

discrimination based on a person's well-being.

Personality Development, Social Traits, and Gender Sensitivity

REFLECTION

Personality development, social qualities, and gender sensitivity were all explored in the second

seminar. I discovered that personal development is the process of better oneself through conscious

habits and actions. This is a critical stage in our lives, especially for students like me, because it

allows us to achieve a better work-life balance. I discovered in the subtopic of social traits that

these are our attitudes toward other individuals. Interpersonal skills, often known as people skills,

social skills, or social intelligence, fall under this category. Furthermore, I found that 55% of our

communication is made up of body language, 38% of our voice tone, and only 7% of words.

Finally, on the subtopic of gender sensitivity, I discovered the difference between sex and gender.

Sex distinguishes between men and women biologically. Gender, on the other hand, refers to the

culturally or socially formed roles that males and females are assigned.

Republic Act 10173 “Data Privacy Act of 2012”

REFLECTION

In our third session, I learnt about the Data Privacy Act of 2012. It is a law that protects individual

personal information in government and commercial sector communications systems. The

principles of transparency, legitimate purpose, and proportionality govern data privacy under this

regulation. I also learned about the consequences of a bad data activity on a person. If this cannot

be prevented, we risk losing our reputation, market share, and legal liabilities. As a result, the

information offered in this topic has been extremely beneficial to me because I became more

conscious of my personal information and learned how to properly care for it.

Work Ethics

Rosalyn Dasco

April 13, 2023

REFLECTION

Work ethics was discussed in the fourth seminar. Work ethics, as I understood it, refers to the

concept that work, hard work, and resilience have a moral advantage or value that builds our

character. Among the work ethics held by a good employee is coming in on time, showing respect

to the firm, and handling the company's equipment with care. Furthermore, I learnt that once my

own values are determined, I can use them to make significant life decisions. It can also assist me

in developing a strong framework for myself. Most significantly, I learned the essential ideals that

I can implement during our work immersion or when I begin working.

Communication Sources

Queenie G. Quindora

April 13, 2023

REFLECTION

This discussion taught me that there are two kinds of communication sources. First, internal

sources are people who are already employed by or working with the company. The following

group is External Sources, who are persons outside of the company such as suppliers and trade

personnel. Aside from that, I learnt a variety of techniques for effectively engaging with team

leaders, supervisors, suppliers, local government, and customers. I also learned that when faced

with a difficult scenario, all you have to do is recall the three A's..

Safety at Work

Engr. Froilan Ney

REFLECTION

improper spacing of wires. Natutunan ko din ang ilang mga safety terminology sa seminar.

NARRATIVE REPORT

Day 1

The first thing we did on the first day of our immersion was introduce ourselves to the staff in

the Nutrition Department. Then Mam Donna, our supervisor, showed us how to calculate the

Monthly Record of Height and Weight Status of Children of 0 to 23 Months. We solved several

records of young children from various barangays in Mogpog. We completed numerous

records in the few hours we were in the office. We began cleaning inside and outside the office

around four o’clock.

Day 2

We did a lot on the second day of our immersion. We went to Magapua Elementary School in

the morning for a consultation meeting. Three of us went, while our two colleagues remained at

the office. Furthermore, we assisted in arranging the attendance of all barangay leaders and

members. Following that, we stayed in a nearby the seats to listen to the meeting. We also

assisted in the distribution of drinks and food to the attendees during lunch. We also had lunch

there. The meeting finished about 1:00 p.m. We initially cleaned away some remaining garbage

and organized used chairs before heading home. We only helped sort the nutrition report files in

the afternoon.

NARRATIVE REPORT

Day 3

We began our immersion on the third day by cleaning the office. Then we set up a table and

chairs. We have also begun to compute. But, because we finished the 0-23 months so quickly,

what we do that day is to compute a Monthly Record of Height and Weight for the next 24-59

months. And then the five of us cleaned up before heading home in the afternoon.

NARRATIVE REPORT

Day 4

On the fourth day, we all went to the barangays of Balanacan, Paye, and Malusak. First, we went

to the Barangay of Balanacan. When we got there, we sat down first because the barangay

officials were still discussing something with our supervisors. Then, we had some children

weighed and height measured. We were also taught to determine nutrition records such as whether

they are underweight, wasted, or normal.

Next, we went to the barangay of Paye. unlike in Balanacan where we took care of many children,

we only weighed one child and the same in the barangay of Malusak. After we went to the three

barangays, we immediately returned to the office, and we finalized the results we got.

20
NARRATIVE REPORT

Day 5

We spent the entire last day of our first week of immersion computing the remaining monthly

records of the children's weight and height status. And like in other days, we cleaned the office

again before returning to our respective homes.

21
NARRATIVE REPORT

Day 6

The first day of our second week of immersion. This time, we helped make the soap package out

of scratch paper and tape. We packaged cleansing soaps after collecting a few bundles of

materials. We worked on it all day.

22
NARRATIVE REPORT

Day 7

On the seventh day of our immersion, we cleaned the office before starting our work. We just

continued wrapping the soaps. But we ran out of tape so the five of us just contributed to buy it.

When the afternoon arrived, we wrapped again using the new tape that was bought.

23
NARRATIVE REPORT

Day 8

As is usual, we cleaned the workplace on the eighth day. We have also organized the posters that

are displayed on the bulletin board outside our room. Then, because we had run out of wrapping

items, we were given scrap papers to rip up. We also cut stickers that will be used to design the

washing soap's packaging.

24
NARRATIVE REPORT

Day 9

For our ninth visit, I watered a plant on the terrace of our office. We spent the whole afternoon

rewrapping the soaps we didn't finish yesterday. When the afternoon came, my colleague and I

washed a few dishes and glasses.

25
NARRATIVE REPORT

Day 10

On the final day of our immersion, we did nothing but wrap the remaining few soap boxes. On

this day, we asked our supervisors sign our daily record and check our evaluation sheet.
