1. Introduction:
This method statement describes the detailed procedure for the Excavation of Invert as
per approved drawing.
2. Scope of Work:
The scope of tunneling for Tunnel T74R-A package is as per given below
a. Construction of Tunnel T-74R-A Balance work of Main Tunnel from Karta End (Approx
Ch. 127+660) to Srinagar End (Approx Ch. 130+950) i.e. 3290 m of tunneling plus
concrete lining, including Adit (585m), cross connection between Main Tunnel and
Escape Tunnel, Niches, Lay By, and all other ancillary works as per approved drawings.
b. Construction of T-74R-A Escape Tunnel, from Karta End (Approx Ch 2+300) to
Srinagar End (Approx Ch 5+600) i.e. 3300 of tunneling plus concrete lining including
niches, lay by and all ancillary works as per approved drawings.
c. Construction of the final T-74R-A Tunnel (Main Tunnel and Escape Tunnel) portal
structure including backfilling as per approved drawings.

A. Machinery:
The following machineries shall be used :
B. Instruments:
a. Total Station - 1 Set
b. Tunnel Profiler - 1 Set
excavator with breaker. In case of Escape Tunnel, breaking operation is carried out
using PC130 excavator with breaker. Excavation operation is carried out upto a depth
of 1628 mm in case of Main tunnel and 1049 mm in case of Escape Tunnel.
C. Mucking:
The mucking operation is carried out in Main tunnel and Escape Tunnel by Excavator.
The muck will be removed in 25T capacity dumpers to the designated dumping yard.
D. Checking of Level
After the completion of excavation and mucking the levels are checked using the
Total Station by Surveyor.
E. PCC
PCC is laid so as to provide stable base for foundation to avoide direct contact of
foundation with soil. After the checking of levels, PCC having Grade of M15 having
thickness 100mm is laid.
