Input Devices -

Input devices are devices that allow users to enter data o into a computer or other electronic
devices.

Examples: Keyboards, Mouse, QR code, Digital Camera, Touchscreen, scanners, microphones,


Optical Character Recognition (OCR), Sensor

1. Keyboard:

• Definition: A keyboard is a commonly used input device that allows users to input text, numbers, and
commands into a computer or device using a set of keys.

Advantages:

Quick and efficient for typing text and entering commands.

Familiar and widely used input method, suitable for various tasks and applications.

Disadvantages:

Limited input options compared to other devices, such as inability to capture gestures or images.

Potential for typing errors or discomfort with prolonged use.

• Types: Standard keyboard, ergonomic keyboard, virtual keyboard, QWERTY keyboard (commonly used in
English-speaking countries), AZERTY keyboard (commonly used in French-speaking countries), and other regional

2. Mouse:

Output Devices –

Output devices display or convey processed data from a computer to the user.

Examples: Screen, Actuators, Projectors, Printers (2D and 3D), Speakers, Plotters

1.Screen:

Advantages: Provides visual output that is easily understandable, can display various types of media (text, images,
videos), and can be of different sizes and resolutions.

Disadvantages: Requires power to operate, can be fragile and prone to damage, and may produce glare or
reflections in certain lighting conditions.

Types: Monitors, displays, screens on mobile devices, TVs, etc.

Usage: Used in computers, mobile devices, televisions, digital signage, and other applications for displaying visual
information.

2.Actuators:

Advantages: Can provide physical feedback or response to user input, can be used for tactile or haptic feedback in
virtual reality or gaming applications.

Disadvantages: Require precise control and calibration, may have limited range or sensitivity, and can be relatively
expensive.
Types: Vibrating motors, force feedback devices, haptic actuators, etc.

Usage: Used in virtual reality systems, gaming controllers, medical simulators, and other applications where
physical feedback is desired.

3.Projector:

Advantages: Can display large images or videos on a screen or surface, portable and flexible for different
environments, and can be used for presentations or entertainment purposes.

Disadvantages: Requires a projection surface or screen, may have lower image quality compared to high-end
displays, and may require regular maintenance and bulb replacement.

Types: DLP (Digital Light Processing), LCD (Liquid Crystal Display), LCoS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon), etc.

4.Printer (2D and 3D):

5.Speakers:

additional equipment or wiring for surround sound setups.

6.Plotters:

Advantages: Can produce high-quality and precise output for large-scale or specialized printing, can handle

drawing.

compared to regular printers, and may be slower in printing speed.
