QUESTION 1 [25 MARKS]

a) The plate is subjected to the two forces at A and B, as shown in Figure 1. By using the
trigonometry method, determine the magnitude of the resultant force and the value of θ
if the resultant force is directed to the positive u axis.

b) Figure 2 shows two boxes connected with a horizontal cable AB. The weight of the box
on the right is 150 N, and the surfaces are smooth.

i) Draw the free body diagram of the system

a) The bracket is subjected to three forces and a couple, as shown in Figure 3.

i) Determine the magnitude and direction of a single force, F at the origin O.
