a. Identify the eight planets of our solar system;
b. Draw and arrange the planets orderly;
c. Appreciate the importance of the planets.

SUN
The sun is the biggest heavenly body we
see in the sky. The sun is actually a start.
But it is very close to earth as compare to
the star we see at night. It is so much
bigger than the star. It is the nearest star
to earth. It is big ball of gases it gives us
heat and light.
PLANETS
Heavenly bodies that revolve around the
sun.
MOON
Heavenly bodies that revolve around the
planets.

Orbit is a fix path on which the planet
revolves. Each planet has its own orbit.

Mercury
It’s the first planet from the sun, so
its closest to the sun. it is also the
smallest planet in the solar system.

Venus
It is the second planet from the
sun. it is the brightest and the
hottest planet.
Earth
Is the third planet from the sun. It
is the planet we live on, and it’s a
unique planet as it has life on it. It
is called the ‘blue planet’ because
one third of the surface of the earth
is covered with water.
Mars
it’s the fourth planets from the sun.
it’s a rocky planet. It looks red, so it
is called ‘the red planet’.

Jupiter
It’s the fifth planet from the sun. it
is the largest planet in the solar
system.
Saturn
It is the sixth planet from the sun. it
is second biggest after Jupiter. It
has bright colored rings around it.
Uranus
It is the seventh planet. It is very
cold as it’s very far from the sun. It
also has a ring around it.

It is the eight planet from the Sun.
So it’s the farthest and coldest
planet.
