1. OPERATIVE / FUNCTIONALITY

Sequence Buffer consists of a set of conveyors (Knapp) where boxes with goods are temporarily accumulated while waiting to be
gradually sent to the corresponding sorter.

This is located on the second floor of the Flat Pack inbound area, acting as an intermediate stage between the box storage area (FP High
Bay) and the order picking area (Sorters). Sequence Buffer acts as a buffer, accumulating in movement the boxes required for the
preparation of orders, thus being able to feed the induction stations sequentially and continuously.

Sorters 1 and 2 are fed from boxes by a first Sequence Buffer. While Sorter 3 is provisioned with boxes for a second Sequence Buffer with
capacity for a possible future fourth Sorter. The first Sequence Buffer has a by-pass to send boxes to the second.

☐ STEP 01

The boxes that arrive at the Sequence Buffer, come mainly from FP High Bay passing
through the Distribution Sorter (Interroll / ISS). Depending on the Sorter exit from which they
exit, they will go to SQ1 or SQ2, and within these, to the upper or lower level.

 Output 6 Distribution Sorter  Lower level SQ 2

 Output 7 Distribution Sorter  Upper level SQ 1
 Output 8 Distribution Sorter  Lower level SQ 1

☐ STEP 02

B

Boxes coming from FP High Bay can also bypass the Distribution Sorter (A) by going through
a Knapp bypass conveyor (B). This high level conveyor delivers boxes to the lower level of
SQ1 (C).

☐ STEP 03
The following types of Knapp Streamline series conveyors can be found within the Sequence
Buffer conveyor system:

A. Roller Conveyor
B. Driven-roller Conveyor Curve
A B C C. High-Speed Roller Switch V2
D E F D. Hinged Conveyor Gate
E. Belt Conveyor
F. Aligning Unit BDE

See more information about these Knapp conveyors in A2-TPQ-KNP and M1-TPQ-KNP
procedures.

☐ STEP 04

As in the rest of the Knapp conveyor system, there are SICK scanners (CLV615-D2410)
(master and slave) that allow the barcode of the box to be recognized to direct it one way or
another. These are located on the curves of the loop, as well as at crossings and by-passes.

☐ STEP 05

As part of the Knapp system, the emergency stop recognition button can be used to release
the system or the affected area after an emergency stop. The blue indicator light provides
information on the status of the emergency stop. A recognition button can be connected to
more than one emergency stop device.

There are emergency stop pushbuttons are distributed throughout the Sequence Buffer to be
able to the closest in case of emergency.

☐ STEP 06

The two levels of SQ1 are integrated in CPU D and lower level of SQ2 (upper level is not
build yet) in CPU E. Both CPUs are located on the main cabinet +F03 which are placed
between Sequence Buffers.

☐ STEP 07

Boxes when they leave the Sequence Buffer, and before reaching the Sorters, go through
Tecnimusa's Box Openers.

See more information in A1-PED-PAQ-010 BOXES OPENER.

MAINTENANCE

☐ STEP 01
According to the manufacturer, the major cleaning/maintenance (in Three-shift operation) for
conveyor system Streamline should be carried out every 4 months regardless of the
workload:

1) Remove loose parts such as paper

2) Remove any abrasions
3) Remove dust with a dry or damp cloth.
4) Remove heavy dirt with a damp cloth; then dry the component
5) Clean all sensors with a brush or a damp, lint-free cloth. Cutting blade must be replaced
from 100,000 boxes, if no prior notice for replacement appears on the display.

For the rest of components see System Maintenance Plan from Knapp.

☐ STEP 02

According to the manufacturer, the major cleaning/maintenance (in Three-shift operation) for
local control cabinet should be carried:

For specific electrical components see Local Control Cabinet Streamline Maintenance &
Repair Manual from Knapp..

ERRORS AND MESSAGES

☐ STEP 01

The Sequence Buffer, as Streamline system from Knapp, is controlled by KiSoft SCADA
software and its graphical user interface (GUI).

Active messages (E/W/N) from system appears on GUI with the structure shown on the
picture.
