Assignment 1

How to attract more students to study at TWC?

To start off, attract more students to study at TWC, the concept is to

increase the enrolment numbers, so more new students will be study in
TWC. And how can we increase the enrolment rate? We need more
people interested in our programs and choose to enroll in TWC.
Therefore, the main point is to show the public our advantages.

People have been thinking about increasing the enrolment rate by

promoting the school and providing scholarship for the outstanding
students, such as holding a school talks at secondary school, that has
already been running smoothly, but how can we ‘challenge’ the current
way of operations? The current school talks visit secondary schools once
a week and give a presentation, after the presentation, there is a Q&A
session for students to understand more about TWC. I choose ‘visit
secondary schools weekly’ to challenge the process. This process cannot
be cut since we cannot give the speech if we even didn’t visit the school,
but the frequency can change from weekly to monthly, twice a week or
quarterly. How about changing school talks to online? Send the invite link
to all form 6 students and anyone who is interested in the courses of TWC
first. Students can choose whether to participate or not which can filter
out students whose ambitions are not here, that save resources, and can
more focus on target students. Result from the decrease in numbers of
students attending the talk, the talk can be hold monthly or quarterly. We
can create a section to experience the interesting parts of different
courses by some apps which all participants can draw, do experiments,
writing on the board, to increase interactivity of the presentation, also
the Q & A session. This can show public the flexibility of TWC.
Apart from promotion and scholarship, we can hold a open day.
Everything open day has many different stalls for introduce the facilities
and the content of the courses. Making the open day more enjoyable and
interesting by focusing on areas that no one else has bothered to think
about, I consider to add a VR section, replace the stalls by games and
experiment, build a simulated future work environment, invite people to
experience the work process and challenges that may face in the future
by the VR technology, which is more exciting than just collecting
information from different stalls. It can also give the impression of
diversity of TWC to the public.

Other than that, using the ‘Random Entry’ approach, I get the words
‘matrix’, ‘silk’ and ‘overlook’, that inspired me to think of holding a
workshop in the open day. Take the course of occupational therapy as a
example, we provide a mock question for the participants which a
occupational therapist would face, like evaluating the difficulty of holding
a activity in an elderly home. They have to teach the elders by using the
materials — ‘silk’ to make a ‘matrix’, and then ‘overlook’ the process,
asking themselves what the older people will face. Will elderly with eye
disease have difficulty with making the matrix? Are their hand muscles
able to make handcraft? Or can they follow step by step? This can
efficiently inspire them and find their interest towards occupational
therapy. The practical teaching style may attract the students who pay
attention to practical experiences.

To deliver a presentation speech to promote TWC, I would consider hold

the presentation not present by someone from TWC, but by video.
Provocation and movement is to create a shocking statement that is
strong enough to move people out of their psychological inertia, people
tend to think the way they are used to be— presentation should has
someone to say something on the stage, people should all focus on the
host, but that is not a must because content is repeated every time,
maybe a little bit changes, that can just do some addition to the video. By
using a provocation technique called ‘Reversal’, the audience should be
someone we should focus on, so the organisers should observe them

during the presentation, what they actually want to know, and adjust the
content. For the Q & A session, the participants can send questions from
their electronic devices to the organiser. The host can come out to
answer questions at the last session or just send out the pdf file, that will
be more detailed and can check again afterwards. After the talk, we
should collect the suggestions and recommendations from the audience,
so that they can know more information they really need, and attract
them by our perfect and considerate attitude.

In addition, the scholarship is issued to the students who have

outstanding academic performance, but how about issues to students
that are diligent or someone that needs fanatical support? The definition
of scholarship can be redefined. TWC provides many programs that
involved in medical industry. The kindness and appreciation to hard work
is important.
