Re: Letter of Recommendation for Melvin Nyagondi for Research Analyst at UNEP

I am writing to support and recommend Melvin to undertake Research Analysis vacancy at United
Nations Environmental Program. I have known Melvin for about half a year, during which he has
diligently learnt and practiced the Meteorological Operations required of a proficient Meteorologist.
During the period of our engagement, Melvin has stood out as a promising young scientist and
researcher in the area of Weather and Climate Forecasting, Climate Change and other climate related
fields.

Melvin is hardworking and meticulous; keen on achieving his goals. This has been demonstrated
particularly in how quickly he was able to master the Linux environment and Numerical Weather
Prediction routines, including post processing, which, intellectually, are quite engaging tasks. This not
withstanding, Melvin is keen on academic excellence and has demonstrated this through his
understanding of other operational areas of meteorology and climate change.

The purpose of this letter therefore, is to ask you to give Melvin a chance to undertake duties in your
institution. The knowledge gained will go a long way in improving our country’s ability to manage
climate variability and change, weather extremes and other climate risks which often ravage sectors of
