Many of you will have been taught to use I.C.E. tables in your highschool chemistry courses; we
used I.C.E. tables in both Chapters 15 and 16 dealing with acid/base equilibria and buffers:
I. (initial concentration)
C. (change in concentration)
E. (equilibrium concentration)
Q. 1:
You are given the equation for a chemical reaction and an initial concentration of reactant.
You are also given the concentration of a product at equilibrium.
How many moles of reactant must have reacted to create this concentration of product?
Therefore, how many moles of reactant remain at equilibrium? Use the concentrations of
reactant remaining and product created at equilibrium in the expression for the equilibrium
constant.
