The past continuous describes
actions or events in a time before
now, which began in the past and
were still going on when another
event occurred.

The past continuous is used for an action


in progress in the past when another
action interrupts it.

The past continuous is used to talk about


actions at a specific time in the past.

The past continuous is used for two


actions that were happening at the same
time in the past.
Examples:
Waiting
They were waiting for the bus when the accident happened.
Were they waiting for the bus when the accident occurred?
They were not waiting for the bus when the accident occurred.

Working
I was working yesterday
Was I working yesterday?
I was not working yesterday
Taking
You were taking a bath.
Were you taking a bath?
You weren't taking a bath

Playing
Pedro was playing in the park.
Was Pedro playing in the park?
Pedro was not playing in the park.

Washing
We were washing our car.
Were we washing our car?
We were not washing our car.
Cleaning
We were cleaning our house.
Were we cleaning our house?
We weren't cleaning our house.

Drinking
Juan was drinking water.

Juan was not drinking water.

Eating.
Raquel was eating chicken rice.
