When I was 15 years old, I had the opportunity to participate in a vacation relief program that

changed my life forever. Little did I know that this experience would change my way of thinking
and help me in my decision to pursue a professional career and to want to make a difference.

My dad owns a construction company and during the vacations, he took me on a trip to a small
village in the country to help build a school for underprivileged children. The conditions were
challenging, with scorching heat and limited resources, but the determination of the local
community was impressive.

Every day we got up early and worked tirelessly to lay bricks, mix cement and build the
foundations for the school. I formed close bonds with the locals, as we shared meals and
stories during breaks. Children would gather around us, their curiosity showing through their
eyes, eager to learn about our lives.

One particular day, as we were building the school walls, a little girl caught my eye. She
couldn't have been more than eight years old, but she carried herself with a maturity beyond
her years. She had a great desire to learn, but lacked educational opportunities in the village
which complicated her dreams.

I was in school and had more academic knowledge, so I decided to spend time with this little
girl, teaching her basic reading and writing skills. helping her desire to learn was humbling and
her progress motivated me to want to learn more. I asked for help at my school with friends
and family to collect books and other school supplies to contribute to the school.

the vacations were almost over, and we were able to finish school. for me and my dad's
company it was a symbol of hope for everyone. the girl I met and the other children now had a
safe space to learn and grow. The experience taught me that education is a powerful tool that
can transform lives and that even small acts of kindness can have a significant impact.

This anecdote from my life serves as a reminder of the power of compassion and the
importance of making a difference in the world. Because of this experience I decided to pursue
a career in architecture so that when I succeed I can do more of these projects to help more
people and children in need.
