Global Maritime India Summit 2023, 


17 -19th October 2023, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi

It gives me immense pleasure to inform you that the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and
Waterways is organising the Third Edition of Global Maritime India Summit 2023 (GMIS
2023) from 17th to 19th October 2023 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.  The Summit will bring
together maritime stakeholders to collaborate on various investment opportunities and
exchange ideas to bring the sector forward. The Summit is likely to be inaugurated by the
Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. 
and
2. The Summit will focus on various aspects of the Maritime sector, promote best practices
and facilitate interaction and collaboration among global maritime industries, policy makers,
investors and other stakeholders. Among the key themes will be maritime sustainability,
innovation and research, innovations and technologies, tourism, maritime clusters,
indigenised ship building and repair, inland and coastal shipping, maritime security and
maritime professional services including financing, insurance, arbitration etc. This Summit
will be a step further to the India’s Vision of 2047 (100 years of Independence) and will
provide opportunities to potential investors and companies looking to set up or expand their
footprint in India. 

3. India and Australia enjoy excellent economic and cultural relations. We further envision
it to upsurge with the strengthening of initiatives and collaborations in the maritime sector.
We hope that this Summit will open new avenues for cooperation in the maritime sector
between the two nations. The Summit shall also provide a great platform for knowledge
exchange between two countries to boost their economic development. We look forward to
developing a strong partnership with Australia using GMIS 2023 as a platform. Hence, we
welcome Australia to take advantage of this platform to kickstart joint initiatives with India
across various maritime sectors.  

4. I am writing to you to seek your help and support to engage with the Ministry of
Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government in Australia and
facilitate contact with the maritime community in Australia. I am enclosing the invitation for
the Minister of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government to
join the Summit as an esteemed guest, with this letter. I request you to get this invitation
delivered to the Minister personally. I also request you to publicize the Summit to the
investor community in Australia and encourage strong participation from Australia by
facilitating business delegations and potential investors who are keen on exploring India as
an investment destination in maritime sector.
5. I look forward to your valuable support in ensuring a strong, high-level participation in
the
form of officials, delegates, and speakers from Australia in GMIS 2023 to make the 3 rd
Global
Maritime India Summit a resounding success.
