7 Rules for

Online Use

Rule #1
Ensure what you post online doesn't harm anyone
in any way.

Things you might interpret as jokes might not be very funny
and instead could be harmful to the person viewing them.
Sometimes when posting online, we can forget that there is
someone on the other side of the screen that can see what human element
we write and can be influenced by it both positively AND
negatively. To avoid this risk, double check your posts and
comments each time you post to ensure it won't harm
anyone. If you are unsure, do not post.

Rule #2
Use a trusted anti-virus software to avoid getting
hacked.

Our Accounts can get hacked, which can lead to us getting
robbed, or have our identity stolen online, etc. Getting
hacked can have many possible negative consequences. For
example, our bank details can get stolen, which can lead to human element
us getting robbed, impacting us negatively financially. To
avoid this risk, install a trusted anti-virus software you know
about that can keep your device and personal details safe.

Be clear about what you post online- try not to
use sarcasm, irony, etc. to avoid
miscommunication.

Sarcasm and unclear posts/comments can lead to
miscommunication. This can possibly impact someone who
reads your post/comment negatively, as they might take
something you said seriously and damage their social human element
life,etc. To avoid this risk, re-read your comments and posts
carefully or ask one of your friends to read them, to ensure
what you are saying is clear and won't lead to any

Rule #4
Ensure your password has capital & lower case
letters, numbers, and special characters.

A weak and/or easily guessable password can lead to your
account or device getting hacked, which can have many
negative consequences such as identity theft and getting
robbed. As stated in rule 2, this can have many negative human element
results. For example, using our personal details, a hacker
can pretend to be us and steal our identity. To avoid this
risk, ensure your password has capital and lower case
letters, numbers, and special characters.

Always stay calm when posting and commenting -
do not be aggressive.

Aggression can lead to harming others and ruining our
digital reputation, which can lead to problems while trying to
get a job, ruining a business we may own or be a part of,
disrupt our social life, etc. To avoid this risk, always stay human element
calm while posting and commenting, and ensure nothing
you say is aggressive or rude.

Rule #6
Be aware of who can see your posts and comments,
and ensure you are using the right language.

Using the wrong kind of language when posting can have a
handful of negative outcomes. For example, younger
people, work colleagues, teachers, bosses, etc., can see a
post you have made without you realising, which can lead to human element
your digital reputation being ruined, or harming others. To
avoid this risk, set your posts to 'private' and ensure they
are only seen by people you trust.

Avoid posting pictures of yourself and do not include
any personal details in them.

Based on photos you post online, people can track you
using things like shop signs, school logos, etc. found in the
photo. This can lead to getting tracked, which can have
many negative consequences, such as getting robbed human element

pictures of yourself online, and ensure there is no personal
information or any details that could lead to your location in
them.
